Yes. It happened six years ago today. How'de you know? I remember hearing about this the day after it happened on the car radio on my way to school, the last day of exams for my sophmore year of high school. It was quite exciting really.

Yes and if you check the URL you will notice the website is "georgewbush-whitehouse.archives.gov" and the article has a picture of quondam president Bush.

I'm not celebrating the anniversary or posting about it out of excitement. It's just that last night I was laying down in my bed and realized it was june 6 and that six years ago people kept talking about how the world was supposed to end on june 6 and then I remembered that a day or so after that the U.S. killed Zarqawi so I figured I'de post about that. Maybe next year I'll post about June 6 end of the world.

I don't know if there was a topic made about this six years ago. I'll search for it though.

Interestingly enough there were quite a bit of topics about Zarqawi being killed six years ago, but they were all on union boards not on off topic.

I don't recall hearing about any civilians killed in that strike. I think the strike used Precision Guided munitions, possibly LGBs. I'll look into it.

6 people were killed in the airstrike besides Zarqawi. Those killed included one of his wives and one of his children. And yes I was right the U.S. did use a LGB, as well as a GPS guided bomb to destroy the house.

Several more "leaders" of AQIM have been killed since then. Given the clandestine cellular structure of the "organization", it doesn't help as much as it sounds.
