the irony is that there is no american race. We are, and continue to be, a nation of immigrants and various ethnicities. We have the best of both worlds; a kickass culture that at the same time embraces and celebrates the culture of those that come here from elsewhere. I love celebrating Chinese new year in San Francisco, going to the Scottish festival in Pleasanton, and celebrating Oktoberfest at the local German restaurant where I currently live.
Patriotism aside, I imagine this has something to do with the fact that A.) a vast majority of games are American-made (such as the examples you listed), or B.) targeted at American or West-loving (specifically the Japanese) audiences.
I have played plenty of European games, however, that have no mention of Americans. Not to mention nearlyevery single RPG I have played has never had an American in it.
