I thought that 'The Departed' was the craziest/best ending I had ever seen, but I just saw 'The Mist' and my jaw is still on the floor. For those of you who have seen it...you know what I'm talking about...for those of you who haven't, go see the movie.

What other movies have crazy endings?

Great point...I was pretty young when I saw it, but old enough to understand what was going on so I was still like "woaaahhh."

No one else agrees with me about 'The Mist'? I feel like that was the all-time kick-in-the-balls ending of all kick-in-the-balls-endings...then again, I just saw it like a half hour ago so it's still fresh in my mind.

I never saw The Mist, but it is based off of a book, so I guess the ending can't be as shocking as something totally new.

And those poor hens...

I still have nightmares. Sexy nightmares, but nightmares nonetheless.

Lots of things are based off a book and can still be totally butchered.

I am Legend was based off a book, those two endings are not ANYTHING alike.

Oh btw, are you saying that just cuz somethings old doesn't mean it's good? or that something old can't be as good as anything new?

Heck I prefer older movies, For example The last man on earth is much better than I am legend, since it has vincent price.

I second that. I watched it for the first time the other night and when they revealed the twist, I was thinking "NO WAY! NO WAY! THAT'S SO F***ED UP!"

It's definitely up there.

I know most people should have already known that and all, but doesn't it technically still need a spoiler warning?

For me, it always has been the original Planet of the Apes. Crazy, unexcepted and totally thought provoking.

Also, while it was rather disappointing sequel in terms of quality, in Beneath The Planet of the Apes, while not necessarily unexcepted...
does not get much crazier than destruction of the planet itself. The narriton at the end, in my humble opinion, makes it all the more powerful.
In addition, despite its sub-par quality, I have to give some props to Sleep Away Camp. Totally unexcepted, and by far, had the crazy factor going on. Being 10 years of age when I originally watched it, the ending scene gave me the creeps for month.

It was a good ending, but I had already figured it out within the first 20 minutes of the film. Not the bad guys backstory but the main characters relationship.

The Usual Suspects really takes it for me as the best twist ending. It's such a good film that it doesn't rely on the ending to carry the film. On repeated viewings it just gets even better.

Well if we're talking about unexpected endings then I would mention Quentin Tarantino's From Dusk till dawn. Who would have thought in the first half an hour or so that they would all end up killing the vampires?
