I was doing a gig in some dingy, rathole club that I didnt even get paid for, and I only got to do because I knew the guy who owned the place, and things went downhill fast. After going through my billboard #1 smash hit (sarcasm) 'Servitude', and some punk numbers, I went into a crazy psychedelic jam for a few minutes. I was playing my guitar on the floor and getting all these weird sounds from it when some douchebag yelled 'get off the stage!'. I immediately went to the mic leaving my guitar on the floor feeding back, and asked the ignornamous if he could do any better. Him and his drunk douchebag friends just kept repeating 'you're **** get off the stage!' and I just responded 'you have nothing to say you **** idiot, you're just ignorant' and then left the stage. Admitedly, I was pretty wasted at the time, so that could've affected my performance, but I think they would've hated me no matter how good I played. My music doesnt really lend itself well the live performance anyway. I'd prefer to just make records.

So F it, I'm done playing live

Sucks man, I feel you.

My old band used to play the really 1337 club in AZ. The owner was awesome and loved us, and we played there like a dozen times. But the kids who showed were the worst kind of music "fan"... they don't like music.

One night, we were having a really tight show, and some of our fans had come all the way from Tuscon to come hear us, and were having a good time. The "regulars" decided to be 1337 and mock them. I got pissed about it, because they were here to support us. So I threw down the mic and pulled an Axel Rose, and busted this one really obnoxiously ironic kid in the head. Later, I claimed it was part of the gig, that I was going to attack a member of the crowd, and they bought it.

*gives self a "Cool Story Bro" pic.

Respond to hecklers by rocking even harder. If you are already going at full steam and still getting heckled then you deserve it.

Yeah. If people say your music sucks, they aren't going to think it sucks less if you stop playing and yell at them.

It seems a lot of really good bands come from Arizona, but never get big because people in Arizona hate their music. There was this band in the early 2000s called karen that was ballsout intense, but ended up splitting up due to(at least what I was told) lack of support. So frustrating.

Its an epidemic in AZ. The scene here is more negative than any other I have seen. Tuscon and Flagstaff/Prescott have great fans, but small populations and not a lot of bands. The Phoenix area is a nightmare though. Most bands who can get big enough to get out of the state do as soon as possible.

You should have fought them. Then you could have a tagline saying: Enjoy my music or I'll punch your face in.

Why'd you get off the stage? You should have kept playing.. instead you gave them what they wanted.. they pissed you off and you got off the stage. You could have at least dumped a beer can over his head or something.

It's amazing how one or two people can send you into a funk. I sang in front of practically all my peers and one anonymous douche said I suck. Yeah, that wasn't exactly a spirit raiser for me, but I'm getting over it.

My advice would be keep a cool head, play a genre where you aren't experimenting and practice more...

Or you could follow hecklers back to where they live, you could improvise as much as you want after that... I am an option B kind of guy, but I think you should try option A.
