Hello OT, so to avoid a huge wall of text I'll just put in a nice summary. :)

I'm really good friends with this girl, she's one of my best friends, but she suffers from depression. She's got a therapist and etc, they've also started putting her on meds. But she's getting worse, lately she's been cutting herself so bad to stop herself from committing suicide. Her whole family is screwed up, her sister tries to kill herself as well, and her brother has tried more than once to overdose. I really need to help this girl, she's dead serious on committing suicide and I really need to know how to help her.

I would say she needs to check into a mental hospital.

I really want to know if this was on purpose or not. I really do. I would recommend a family and friend intervention, but from what you said about her family, that's a little out of the question... I can only recommend you show her you care, and try to get her to tell you what she is dealing with and whatnot. Getting a person to talk and letting them know at least one person cares can make a massive difference.

Give her a reason to live. How you do it is up to you, but just remember - There's no use going, just go *insert picture of Jack Sparrow*

If you tried everything you can to the best of your abilities, you should bring this up to her parents or your parents. Then let life run it's course, she needs mental help that you probably can't provide. ( no offense. )

TBH (not trying to be mean), but it seems like all the kids want is attention. -most likely from their parents. ...I mean 3 kids 'attempting' suicide and no successful attempts...seriously Either way though, you need to get her some help. Tell a counselor at school and let them go from there

I don't think you are at all being mean in that consensus. It's a very common reason for being suicidal as a child, and considering all three children are like this, it shows serious cravings for attention from rather lackluster parents.

My bluntness usually comes across as being a jackass on here...so I try and preface stuff now  But that seems to be the only logical conclusion in this case

Well, I would say that's the person misinterpreting your post's problem instead. :P Yeah, unless in the very unlikely chance they all inherited some mental disorder from their parents, your consensus is the only way to really explain it.

being depressed is easy and so most people will prefer to stay this way. anyways short answers, you can't fix her, but you can be there for her if she has need of you. Don't confuse your need of her for her need of you. and most people who are depressed are not capable of being any other way.

Usually when people are depressed they don't have many friends and are sick of their life. She has to change her life in order to get rid of the depression. I was depressed last year (I wasn't cutting myself, but I was sad) You just have to tell yourself "This obviously isn't working, I HAVE to change," and that I did.

poor girl if what you are saying is true. Is she interested in you in anyway other than friend? If so, make the move and show her some romance and hardcore stuff, if you know what I mean.

Starting a relationship with her just to try and get her not to kill herself is a rather horrible way to go about starting one. Unless the two were already compatible, and that most likely isn't the case, it has no other way to end that is good for the both of them. :P

maybe you are right, maybe. BUT, I always found it quite lustful and sinful to start such a relation. You know the girl is screwed in the head and you, the best friend, decide to "I want to lose myself with you", and the dark, sinful relationship start... Beside she has nothing to lose, so amazing, adventurous sex is guarantee ;)

lol I mostly think women's solution is a man... she needs attention and to have someone make her smile.. she needs someone to make here look forward to living and show here life is more than just the negative.. She needs a man to balance the burden she carries.. She needs that special someone to give her strength and heal her wounds.

You do have a point, crazy girls probably do lead to more kinky adventures in the bedroom, and I also find it alluring, but not when it comes to something as serious as a girl who is already suicidal. :P

You are correct in your statement. I've suffered from manic depression and social anxiety disorder for the past three years, and really, in the end I find it's my Ego-centric mind that keeps me in that state. It's strange that something that creates so much suffering and unhappiness in a person (sometimes even causing suicide) is actually craved by the ego and desired (usually subconsciously) on some level. Often times it IS easier to stay that way then to create change in your conscious perception of the world.
