Yes. But it really depends how close you both are. I assume you have no issue staying out for fun things this time you needed to be there for her and you failed.

think of it this way, how long do you really think the realtionship will last? then think of your education, what you complete in school will be with you forever, and can only lead to better jobs and better pay the more you learn.

Alright, being a girl, I understand both sides. To me, education is most important, so you did the right thing. You can only support her so much. Life does go on. And if you cared about you, she would want you to do well in your classes as well.

That last part about Better Job and Pay is actually untrue. I know a lot of people with college educations who start out at the same place as everyone else. As a matter of fact, after a few years, your work experience is more important than your education.
Back to the topic on hand. Why are people calling for him to break up with his girlfriend? We don't know what their relationship is like. So they had a fight, that happens, its actually healthy.
Your not a bad boyfriend, you did what you had to do, she'll understand in a day or two. Women can be VERY emotional and take things the wrong way, but they eventually see the light eventually.
Wow... that's a tough one... I've lost two cats and I would have loved to have emotional support as much as I could get... however, I'd be understanding if my girl had to start studying. I mean, there's nothing wrong with giving more emotional support when you have more free time. I don' think you're a bad BF for having to hang up the phone. You know you wanted to spend more time with her, but just couldn't, and I hope you don't hold anything against her for her being mad at you. Losing a cat is a pretty tragic event... :(

Seriously though, you best bet is to give her a day or so. If you two are really close she'll get over it. But, please, don't ever make the mistake of thinking that you understand her.

education comes first. as hard as it must be to lose her cat, she has to understand you have your priorities. and you should never risk your education for anyone, ever.

I'm gonna say she's selfish. when you love a person you want what's best for them and you want them to be successful. she should be supportive, even in situations like these (I know it's hard losing a cat, I've lost one myself).

You're not in the wrong here imo. She was upset at the time, and she should get over it with time and understand you had to study. I suggest spending time with her and talking as soon as the chance comes up though.
