If she's cutting herself it shows that she doesn't really care about her family or friends.

Yes.

You're bailing on her when she needs you, and only intensifying the problem. If you had half a brain, you would try to treat the cause, not the effect. (sorry if that came off sounding harsh, but I just think what you did is kind of selfish.)

i know a girl who does the exact same thing and i know for a fact it was to guilt her ex-boyfriend to come back and to get some attention. you did the right thing. anyway, make sure her parents know about her activities.

If she cuts herself, then she has a serious problem. She could have depression, or something.

try having a girlfriend tell you she's pregnant just so you would get back with her. and this didn't happen once, she pulled it three times. i just didn't believe her the third time.

LOL. So you would get back with her? Most guys would turn tail and run if they heard those words. Kudos to you for having the balls to own up to responsibility (even though it was a lie).

Only way to make her stop is to show her that all she needs is you. i think your not expressing enough love and she feels like she shouldn't live because there is no love in her life.

guide her, be with her, and show her that cutting herself will make her lose the one thing that loves her. YOU.

nono, there is a lot of love and hate relationships and we all know it. there will be a rough road in all relationships, all different kinds. but this can be fixed and fixed permanently.

just need faith, and express yourself as the one and only. 3am she wants you to come pick her up because she's going to cut herself? get your ass up and get her, go get some ice cream from a 24/7 store and just think of good times. blocking those bad thoughts that make her want to cut herself will be the cure of her problem.

no I would have done the same thing. you don't need to be in a relationship with that kind of person, I know it sounds mean but those kind of people have serious issues that you shouldn't have to deal with. sure you can be friends and help them out, but romantically it's not a good idea because it won't be a healthy relationship.

You're bailing on her when she needs you, and only intensifying the problem. If you had half a brain, you would try to treat the cause, not the effect. (sorry if that came off sounding harsh, but I just think what you did is kind of selfish.)

Maybe. If she's just an attention seeker, then yes, you did the right thing. But if her problems are real, well, it's not like it was the best time to leave her.

I know it would be hard to take care of her, one day you would feel like very, very tired, and lose it. But you should try, even if for a bit.

Inability doesn't mean you're a bad person. It's so easy to become discouraged by pathology. I know people who've been in relationships and one partner had PTSD, thought the other person was cheating on them constantly. And it had to end, that was just totally dysfunctional. They broke off contact. The other person couldn't help the person with PTSD. It's horrible but it doesn't mean anyone is a bad person.

I can't believe how many "Yes's" I see.

Dude, you did the right thing. The only person that can help this girl, in the end, is her, not him. Its not his responsibility to be her baby sitter. The inexperience of people on this threat. People, you have to start becoming alittle more selfish, and alittle less soft.

You get to a point in your life where you just get fed up with this type of drama. Its unnecessary. The girl isn't going to kill herself, she's an attention seeker, and anyone who goes through those types of length to get your attention is just not worth it. If you see someone has "those types of problems" you have to get away from it. Its going to destroy you. People need to stop thinking they're a Knight in Shining Armor and realize you can't help people like that.

He told her parents, thats all he should do, and thats it. Thats as much as you do.

My ex girlfriend was a cutter, and honestly man, theres a lot of other baggage that comes with it. I thought I could help her, and I was so emotionally drained, that I just couldn't do it anymore and actually started to have panic attacks. And you'd be surprised how absolutely ungrateful people can be. And when you date someone whose crazy, you start becoming crazy also. You start taking on their bad attributes.

You did the right thing man. Your not an a-hole, your a human being who did the right thing for yourself, and in the long run, did the right thing for that girl.

It's not good for the troubled's mental health or yours if you're totally selfish. Altruism works wonders on people. Getting discouraged by severe psychological issues is totally understandable, but it's good to help people too.
