I have never ever liked mainstream music as long as I have lived. Growing up when 90's pop was the thing, I was listening to disco. Then I progressed on to old school punk rock/hardcore/classic rock. Then to "real" hip hop. Then I picked up little genres here and there that I enjoyed...trip hop vocal jazz etc. But I have never enjoyed nor cared to enjoy Top 40 stuff.

I like the radio allot. Mostly Pandora. Probably because Im too lazy to choose music myself :P But I do agree with you, the stuff they play isn't all that bad, personally I like allot of today's mainstream music but i like the classics as well.

In my day we used to wear monoglasses and suits aswell as ride unicycles. Nowadays all you see is them damn teens with their tight jeans and trendy T-Shirts.
:P Sorry, I'm just being silly. Yeah, there's good popular music from the 70s and 80s, but honestly was it allways good? There's alot of medicore music from all decades, and alot of the time that's what we choose to focus on. Though honestly I don't listen to radio that much, so I don't know how bad it really is.
If you mean;
"I Got A Feelin'"
"Party In The USA"
"Your'e A Jerk"
"Wolf"
"Evacuate The Dance Floor"
then yes, I agree with you.
depends on the genre you are talking about but I personally like a lot of the rock that is out right now.
People tend to exaggerate on the internets. However, there is no good to be found in songs like "Birthday Sex". None whatsoever. Mainstream music serves its purpose. It's easy to listen to, easy to remember, and simple to forget for long enough that labels can push out greatest hits albums to rake in on nostalgia. If all you want out of music is an easy-going casual listening experience, with similar material, mainstream music is the way to go, and there's no more shame in liking mainstream music than there is sticking to a select era/genre of music for reasons such as nostalgia or whatnot.I feel like I am. I'm so sick of mainstream music being bashed here; it's not THAT bad.

Wait, you're joking, right? :|The internet has allmusic.com, where you can check up musicians you lke and find out who influenced them, who was influenced by them, and who has a similar sound. Lets people search for new music pretty easily, where people can come to their own conclusions. That's just one place online, so yeah, I'd say the internet is different than radio in that regard.Well, I don't exactly like being told what to like by the creeps on the radio; but is the internet so different? I say listen to some radio once in a while to just to hear what's new, but turn off quick 'cause it's rumored to take over your mind. lol

Why? Because I like music that you don't? Give me a break.You are, and you should hate yourself for it.

Why? Because I like music that you don't? Give me a break. good man.Dn'tlisten to what everyone tells you an keep enjoying the things you already do.I don't really like the radio, mainly because they repeat songs too often.
And because the quality of music most radio stations play is quite low, imo.
[QUOTE="AnObscureName"]I like Radio 2. Especially some of the shows that play older tunes (Johnny Walker, I'm looking at you).Bourbons3Why does Terry Wogan have to retire :cry: It's messed up, isn't it. The world could literally be tumbling down around me but the moment Terry Wogan comes on, everything's ok and all I need is a hot cup of tea.
