So anyone buy from Amazon? so from what i heard, all you have to do is....

1. Make a account

2. Add to cart on what item you want to buy

3. The item will come by mail

So sounds easy, but is there something fishey about this?

There's nothing fishy about it. I've used it many many times. Especially for college kids, books are dirt cheap on there.

I buy books from Amazon. They always ship earlier than the ESD and arrive earlier than the ETA, which I like, and everything's always in great shape.

Amazon is great. You can usually get things cheaper online than retail. I even bought my 54 inch plasma tv from Amazon. I have never had a problem with Amazon. Shipping is always fast. Better than going to Best Buy.

It's perfectly fine.... i seriously can't beleive people are still wary of internet shopping, it's perfectly fine and if it does go wrong you've got the distance selling act to protect you. You're just as likely possibly more so to get ripped off on the high street than you are on the internet, more so as with the internet you can instantly go to the manufacturer's website to see if the retailer is telling the truth also you can look up reviews and check prices with other places quickly.

And also dispute the transaction with the credit card company as a last resort. That's why I never use my debit card online; always a credit card.

Yes, but the money is already out of your account. With a credit card, you haven't paid it yet. If there is a fraudulent seller, I certainly don't want him to have direct access to my bank account.

Nah, third party sellers are better than amazon, they're a lot smaller so their reputation means more to them, the fastest non-couriered things i've ordered have always come from small companies.

The sale goes through amazon, only amazon have your details and they move the money from your account into theirs before passing it on to the seller.

I've had third-party sellers' items not come for a month after I've bought them. It's really on a case-by-case basis. As for the debit card, if you need to get a refund or dispute a charge, you're still fighting to get your own money back. With credit, you just have to fight to not have to pay it in the future.

You could go through paypal if you're so worried, then you're insured up to 500 quid

No you just make a claim to the company by explaining the situation. If they don't pay any attention contact trading standards.

Almost everything I buy is from Amazon. They usually have the best prices, amazing selection, they have free shipping for orders over $25, they always hip on time (usually early), and the few issues I've had are with private sellers working through amazon. In that case you can report it to Amazon they'll refund you your money within a couple of weeks. I've only had two issues where they needed to give me a refund and both times they didn't even question if I was trying to scam them or not. Really great company,

Ordering used books can be questionable... The problem with them is that sometimes the shipping will take way too long or... The book that they send you is actually a earlier addition when your looking for a later one... Just be careful who you order used products from and make sure they have a good reputation.

Other than that Amazon is fantastic.
