It depends... it seems like most things I buy on Amazon now are through independent sellers anyway, so the shipping varies, just like Ebay.

All else equal, I will try buy from them direct. However, most things lately have been cheaper through independent sellers, like used hard-to-find CDs or hardware and stuff.

I very much prefer amazon.com, regardless of whether I'm buying from amazon or from a third-party seller.

Ebay for sure. When searching on amazon for something I'd look up on ebay, the results show me that amazon doesn't even have half the variety.

I don't think you are immune from that on Ebay, though I guess they usually post more pictures of the items. However, you are just as likely to get scammed on Ebay as you are anywhere else.

I didn't say that you have. What you do have is one anecdotal instance that seems to keep you from buying from a website, whether it is actually Amazon's fault or not. There are millions of instances of people getting scammed on ebay, though. Don't let one example skew your judgement.

I use Amazon most of the time, especially as I can get free next-day delivery with my Prime membership. I use eBay occasionally.

Amazon marketplace seems more reliable somehow, although I've never had a problem yet. When I do I'm sure there will be hoops to jump through. I've had one problem on EBay out of several dozen transactions and it was pretty painless to resolve - got my money back within a week. For same price items I'll go Amazon, though, as their stock shipping is cheaper. There's more variety of stuff on Ebay, but you have to be careful to check and double check exactly what it is you're ordering, what it comes with, and what condition it's in. That and you also have to weed out the idiot sellers who make their item look cheaper by padding up the difference in shipping.

Do you guys get free shipping on marketplace items in the US? I know there's Amazon prime, which isn't available here, and the Canada Amazon store has a pathetic selection of items in comparison, but anything not directly sold by Amazon has nice fat shipping fees.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages, but I find myself using Amazon more because I usually find things for a lower price there than I do on ebay. But price depends on the seller, so I guess you could say I've had more luck with amazon.

Depends what I want. CDs are usually from Amazon but clothes are usually cheaper from eBay.
