Okay, so I was ordering stuff over Amazon for my mom for her boyfriends birthday...

I pick the option 21-42 days shipping...

Because his birthday is on the 20th.

I get told i'll receive it September 10th - October 7th.

October 7th? Seriously? That's a lot more then just 42 days...

My guess that it's either something not regularly stocked or it's not actually being sold by Amazon.

3 - 6 weeks which is 21 - 42 days. I live in the UK and I ordered something from Amazon.com on August 5, dispatched on August 6, and was given a delivery estimate of September 7 2010 - October 7 2010 which is well over 42 days from the time of dispatch.

This is rather strange however as sometimes on the Amazon.co.uk site I order things from US based sellers and the estimated delivery time is 5 - 8 business/working days and they have usually arrived by the fifth working day anyway.

Every time i get something from Amazon i choose the free shipping or super saver if its available. I NEVER pay extra for fast shipping. The last thing i ordered was a 100 pack of DVD-Rs and i had an estimated arrival date of almost 2 weeks. I got them 3 days later.

I honestly wouldnt worry. It will probably get there sooner than you wanted.

Thats some pretty bad luck, but it is probably lying, I dont use Amazon but i have heard stories of amazon not even saying the package has been sent yet when they recieved them.

Just to give an update, I placed an order (from a US based seller on Amazon.com and I live in the UK) on August 5th which was dispatched on August 6th and was given a delivery time of 3 - 6 weeks and a delivery estimate of September 7, 2010 - October 7, 2010. The item however arrived today after 4 working/business days on August 12th, 2010. This was a private seller by the way.
