America, why do you like peanut butter so much?

Well? I mean... it's peanuts, that have been mashed and stuff to form a thick sticky paste! How can anyone enjoy putting this on bread, or toast? Only in America can Reese's peanut butter candy be successful. Elsewhere people only desire chocolate and such, and peanut butter hasn't hit off like it has in the US for what, a century at least?

So is there anyone here who doesn't like to spread peanut butter with jam onto toast and eat it? Something else they like to eat during their childhood years? Share your stories!

Yeah.. peanut butter isn't that great.

I guess most American baby foods contain it.

It became an American food over the years, so if other countries don't like it, fine by that, they have there traditions, and we have ours

I'm European and I love it. Especially with jelly and other such products.

Hate to break it to you TC, but in Asia they love PB also. Especially in China and Thailand. :|

Peanut butter is awesome, I love me a peanut butter & jam sandwich :D

I like eating it from a spoon. I just bought a huge tub of peanut butter and have only used a spoon to eat it. Have not spread it on one single item. Just the spoon.

Really, though, I know it's a bit odd - one of those things you have to grow up with or else you're not likely to develop a taste for it later. Ever tried Vegemite? I think it's utterly disgusting but I understand if Australians like it because they are used to it. Same goes for other things like Marmite, Yorkshire Pudding, etc...

I love peanut butter...I also love nutella. I like putting spreads on toast I guess.
