Huh? I lock my door. It depends where you live. I live in a decent area, but I have a lot of expensive and dangerous stuff in my house--some of which does not belong to me--so I keep my doors locked. My parents live in a gated community where the last murder was in 1809 when a trapper shot an Indian; so sometimes they don't lock their doors. They don't need to.
I live in a decent area and I don't lock my door. I know I probably should but I just cant get in the routine of doing it. Besides, I have two very large german shepards and a firearm. So when I'm home I feel safe. I'm also pretty bad at locking the door when theirs no-one home but when my dogs bark they sound scary as hell to people. The last time the UPS guy came to my house he just beeped his horn, wouldn't even come in my yard, lol.
Unlocking my door is a hassle, so I just leave it unlocked and set up armed sentry turrets.
They shoot anything that is registered as a trespasser, which works well since I don't get visitors.
Except that one day with girl scout troop 859.....
They just wanted to sell cookies. Why HAL why.
Why do all your topics have the word "America" in them. I mean, you could just say "People never lock their door". You'd effectively be covering a larger group of people and you wouldn't be giving me the idea that America only gives a crap about itself.
I'm in Europe and I always lock my door, I'd imagine a majority of Americans do depending on what their town is like
Around where I live? Not really. Out here in the sticks, almost everyone have guns at home. Even the Amish have their pitchforks.
Yes, one could leave their doors unlocked, depending on where one lived here in the US. Unfortunately, things have changed and while there are still a few places where no one locks their doors, I would venture to say that nowadays, most do lock them.
Exactly what "things have changed"? The crime rate in the US is the lowest its been in a long time. The fear mongering by the media is the only thing that has changed. To put it lightly, if you really think a locked door is going to stop someone from getting in your house, then you are mistaken. If someone wants in your house, they will get in your house.Yes, one could leave their doors unlocked, depending on where one lived here in the US. Unfortunately, things have changed and while there are still a few places where no one locks their doors, I would venture to say that nowadays, most do lock them.

I always lock my door. Always.clayron
same here, you can never be too safe, cause you never know who is out there
In small towns and other rural areas it's quite common for people to not lock their doors, at least in Eastern Ontario. I know several people living on farms who never lock their doors, and my family usually only locks the house when everyone leaves or is asleep. Now that I'm living in Ottawa though I've noticed that almost everyone always locks their doors, even when they're sitting in the room next to the door. It's a bit weird getting used to.
