Americans: Do You Get Butthurt When Everyone Hates On America?

america constantly gets hate from all sides. seems like everyone on the internet hates america and contantly talks sh*t about it. the strange thing is whenever I travel, people always seem fascinated that i'm from america and ask me a bunch of questions about it. so what gives? is this whole 'hate america' meme just an internet thing or what? (unless your from the middle-east, then I can understand the hate)

On the internet, it's matter of little care. In real life when I've traveled, I get treated with much hospitality and never judged for living in the US. On the internet, people can say what they want due to being anonymous.

I think most of the hate comes from the middle east and then Europe. Not as much as you think from Europe.

Nope. It's not my concern if people in other countries dislike our policies. To be honest, I get more upset when Americans feel the need to hate on America, in an ignorant way. We really do have a lot ot be thankful for, if you compare us to third-world countries.

nope, hate comes from misunderstanding.  So I pity anyone that hates on us.

But if they actually make a good point with their hate, then I go into denial mode, and claim I am Californian, not American : P

The thing I hate most is every American hates the government as if they can miraculously fix decades of debt and corruption within 5 years. JohnF111

No not really. Some of the hate is deserved but most isn't. Its not like the whole world is this squeaky clean place. Every country has its fair share of dirt not just America were just constantly in the spotlight. That and most people like to hate over what the government does but its not really fair to judge based off of that. The average person just goes to work and try to live their life to the fullest same as anywhere else in the world. Same person usually has no say over things like say drone strikes and what not. There's  an extremely small amount of people making decisions that can affect the whole world.

 I notice most of the hate comes from smug europeans too. they should be thankful to us for taking them out of the dark ages. maybe they're just mad we take their girls whenever we visit their countries?

What people from other countries never get about Americans is you spend WAY more time thinking about us than we think about you (if ever).  In other words, we don't care.  Furthermore, we just asume that if you do hate us it's because your jealous.

Some of it is legitimate criticism and some is just nonsense. The way I look at it, if America does something, it's our fault. If we don't do something, it's our fault. If it succeeds, no one remembers it. If we don't succeed, everyone remembers that.

I was lucky to have been born an American.

I definitely think Americans are criticized too often, but personally there are some types of Americans I found difficult to respect.

At times I do think certain Americans invite criticism...like making a movie that overplays your role in an event, while shamelessly ignoring the help of your allies...and being rewarded for your historical inaccuracies with an oscar. Americans who constantly re-write their history and ignore many faults within there nation (I should stress that I recognize that this is not every american) are definitely a group of people that I have trouble respecting.

no. i ridicule the stupid stuff about their culture and govt so it only seems fair for them to ridicule the stupid stuff about mine.

only when they dont support why they hate America. If they blatantly hate America for no reason then i would get slightly annoyed. but other than that i dont really care cause people have a right to their own opinion. The US government has done many things that i disagree on and so i understand one's dislike of our country.
