I would take just so I could say later "I stole Adolf Hitler wallet and ruined his evening." How many people would be able to make a claim like that? :P

That's my question. Are we time-travellers already aware of what Hitler will reveal himself to be? Or are we just kind of opposed to him politically or something. I wouldn't steal Stephen Harper's wallet for instance even though I don't like having him as prime minister.

No, stealing from someone who you know is known for genocide is idiotic with even the slightest chance of getting caught

At the time, Hitler had not committed any war crimes since it was 1933, so there is no way of knowing that.

You're ethically obligated to kill him. Take his wallet afterwards if you must.

It cleaerly states in the question that it does not effect WW2 or the holocaust.

So am I one of the few who saw this question as putting yourself as a person before WWII, before people knew he would do what he did, and steal it or not? Or, would you say yes, because in the here and now, you know he killed millions? Some could say it is ethically obligated to hurt him for what he hurt upon millions, if you knew what is known today back then. However the question is open for that very reason. The question is all about associating someone as a bad person and applying retribution by otherwise unethical deeds. Much like how war goes. Normally been unethical to try and kill him, but with his actions, many felt ethically obligated to end his life. That is how I saw it. A trick question on if you could rationalize a bad action on a bad person as not a bad action at all.

Stealing wallets is horrible, and Adolf Hitler has better things to do than worry about his wifes picture in the credit card pocket.

If the stealing of his wallet wouldn't affect the Holocaust then why the hell would anybody be ethically obligated to steal his wallet?
