I want to see these 2 fight. After the 2 match up with shogun and machida, Shogun is just to good for machida.

It's funny. People mocked Machida for saying he wanted to take on Fedor, yet no one mocks Rua for wanting to take on Anderson Silva. Both low-ish P4P guys taking on top 3 P4P guys. *shrug* Whatever. Would be an interesting fight, for sure.

Anderson Silva would probably be the betting favourite. but that said I love Shogun and would make a substantial bet on him and fly out to see the fight because seriously it doesn't get much bigger than Shogun vs. Anderson. However it's probably a year away. Lets hope they perform as expected and win their next few fights before their clash happens.

This topic doesn't matter because Anderson has to fight both Chael Sonnen and Vitor Belfort first, and he WILL LOSE one of those two fights.

shogun would certainly have a puncher's chance because hes very aggressive, but anderson silva is far too good of a counter puncher for me to pick against him. of course, this is all speculation because dana white hates putting silva up against top level fighters (then he wonders why he gets bored...).

Shogun takes this fight. AS won't try that dancing foolishness against shogun, i can guarantee you that. it would be a pretty tentative fight in the earlier stages, but once shogun hurts AS, he'd swoop in for the kill.

Shogun is just to good for machida.

2uneek4u

Which is why their fight history is 1-1

I seem to remember a fight in 2009 when Rua had trouble with a washed up, and exhausted Mark Coleman.

Machida career losses: 1

Rua career losses: 4

I thought about this matchup too. While shogun is aggressive, Anderson has quick and accurate counters. I think that Shogun edges Silva on the ground game even though they are both good. I would have to go with Shogun, but I know that Silva has a good chance of winning.

During the Machida fights though, you can easily tell that Shogun is getting back to how he was in PRIDE. With the Coleman fight, he previously went through numerous knee surgeries and of course, ring rust

It would be a great fight to watch. I wouldn't favor one fighter over the other for this particular fight.
