A reboot for such a recent franchise seems really weird to me; sure if it was something trainwreck-y like Daredevil or the Fantastic Four, but I don't get this at allxaosExactly, Im completely confused by the rebooting of Spiderman. I suppose they are just riding the Super-hero money train as long as its still running.

I also think it's a bit early for a reboot as well. Anways, I have never heard of this guy, and if he is a no-name actor he runs the risk of being branded Peter Parker forever. Although perhaps it will be a bit more difficult to stick since Toby Maguire is still pretty fresh in people's memories as Spider-Man, I think.
Tobey Maguire suited the role of Peter Parker much better. He passed off pretty well for a nerd, at least for me
I don't think it qualifies as a fad if they've been making films since the 1940s.▲ Why do we need another spiderman movie? Let it die. Let the entire superhero movie fad die already. ▲

I was hoping it'd be the cute guy from that Percy Jackson flick. I've never liked Spiderman though. So, no biggie.
apparently he had a minor-medium sized role in a couple episodes of dr who...looks like we're going to be in safe hands.
Hmmm he might not look the part yet but that has yet to be seen. I am going to reserve judgment for the film, the director on the other hand is not a bad choice. Mark Webb directed last years film 500 days of summer, which was quite a refreshing take on the very stale and boring Romantic Comedy. The characters in that were odd balls, and I am sure he can handle the Peter Parker character in the nerdy sense. Lets see who they use as the villian....
He is by far the best choice out of the ones they were considering. I would have prefered Emile Hirsch, or Anton Yelchin but Andrew Garfield is a damn good actor as well. Just because he is unknown doesnt mean he is a bad choice. He was fantastic in The Red Riding trilogy, and Boy A. People should actually find out more about him before they judge him.
What is with all the sequals? reboot of some thing made in the same decade? Hollywood must be desperate.
[QUOTE="Neon-Tiger"]Good. I never thought Maguire fit the role. I hope the reboot allows for actually good movies. Spidey 1 was passable, 2 and 3 were absolute crap.Dylan_11We agree on so many things! :o Do we? Sorry I haven't been paying attention. :P

Spiderman is not the only Marvel Franchise to reboot, remember the Hulk, that was rebooted with in five years of release between each film. 2003 had the Ang Lee Hulk and then 2008 had the last hulk film, so its not teh first time this happened.

I saw this list of who can be the next spider-man and he was the only one on the list i liked. But he's like 27 the same age Tobey Maguire was in the 1st spider-man movie. I don't want to see another origin story again. It seems that hollywood does not know where to go after the origin stories are done in superhero movies, so they just reboot it to tell it again just differently. I really hope the movie will take place in spideys early days but origin.
