Cowboy Bebop and Vampire Hunter D.

Black Lagoon, Gunslinger Girl, Seirei no Moribito, and Darker Than Black are a few good ones.

In terms of action scenes, Seirei no Moribito has by FAR the best sequences out of all these. However, these scenes are less-frequent compared to the others.

For movies, look up Karas one and two, and maybe appleseed (if you seen that then ignore).

Shows, Seven Samurai, Bleach(some like and some don't), and Samurai Champloo.

Those are a few that I can think of off the top of my head.

Ouran High SchoolHosr Club. It's a romantic comedy anime/manga written by the genius Bisco Hatori. The reason I call her genius is because she was the one who made Tamaki and I love Tamaki Suoh to death!

If u want something a bit more mature try Death Note, Code geass or Claymore. They all have reaaaaaally goos stories, action and the characters are really awesome specially the first 2 they r bastards but a lot of fun to watch.

If u like Mecha Gurren lagann and Gundam 00 are some of the best(code geass is mecha too but its just so much more than that).

I enjoyed cyber city odeo 808, Iria, 3X3 eyes, yu yu hakushou, dbz, kenshin, ranma 1/2

I like the ones with a really distinct art style - I don't usually watch the ones that emualte each other - the huge eyes and spikey hair is all right in moderation

Bleach, Death Note (watch in english voice dubs), Neon Genesis Evangelion and its movies, FullMetal Alchemist, Hellsing are all easy to get into, and they are all my favorites.

Also Naruto if you like somthing a little less mature, but I love its story and characters personally.

Nobody has mentioned FATE STAY NIGHT... it is a really good anime... I also recommend:

- Claymore
- Death Note
- School Rumble, if you want to have a good laugh
