I'm new to watching anime, I just finished the Death Note series and loved it. Now I have a chance to buy really cheap anime dvds, but I don't know what's worth money and what's not soare any of these titles must haves:

Gunslinger Girl, Getbackers, Bleach, Basilik, Salkano, XXXholic, Ergo Proxy, Desert Punk, Speed Grapher, Tri Gun, Noein, Hellsing, and Choibits.

I'm looking for a great story and action if possible. It'd be cool if some where so good, there worth watching multiple times. I don't really want any romance anime's.

So which of these are the best?

Skip Chobits and Bleach, and I bet you'll like Hellsing.

saikano is a romance anime but really good.

Hellsing is old but one of the best animes released.

I watched ergo proxy several times so far and still never got bored of it.

So i think the best ones of the list are hellsing and ergo proxy.

I've only seen Gunslinger Girl from that list. It was pretty good I thought, not to everyone's taste though.

Well, out of all of those I have seen: Ergo Proxy and Chobits are the ones. I can't believe I am saying this (since it is my all time favorite anime) but skip Chobits since you are more into action animes and no romance. Ergo Proxy was interesting, I would recommend it.

watch trailers/a part of an episode on youtube. I find that no matter what people suggest, this helps me find shows I like better than just by suggestion alone.

Ergo Proxy, Trigun, Bleach, Hellsing.

Edit: Bleach, while enjoyable is the "Naruto" kind of anime where there's lots and lots of filler and it's targeted at a younger audience.

None. I find reading the manga is much better than watching the anime. Though if you're going to go for anime-only: Gunsword, Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo are something to check out. Basilisk is pretty faithful to the manga.

▲ Out of that sore list, Trigun is the only truly great one. ▲

Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, Soul Eater, Black Lagoon, Gundam Unicorn, Ghost in the Shell:SAC, Hellsing/Hellsing Ultimate (Ultimate is better) and Code Geass.. check those out. Bleach gets awful after the first arc, and pretty much flip flops and fillers its way to having a 10 year life span... Ergo Proxy is pretty nice as well.

Claymore is by far my favorite Anime. Code Geass and Bleach(only bad thing is its a LOT of episodes with way to many Fillers so unless your watching online your going to pay a LOT for tons of non story line episodes) are good to. I just started watching Blood+, but I would recommend Claymore (its 26 episodes with no lame chunks of fillers) then

Hellsing and Trigun. If possible, look for Cowboy Bebop...
