Yeah my friend thinks everyone on gamespot loves anime, but how many people out there hate it? I personally don't care, I'm in the middle, I like anything if its good but I'm not that big on anime.
Most anime haters have the combined anime experience of a shonen junkie. They rarely have seen the really good anime, and more than likely do not know the most promising animes coming out. I mean I haven't met anyone else who knows what Higashi no Eden is; Most promising anime of 2009.
I don't hate Anime, I'm not a big Anime lover. I would have been if I had the internet as sooner after DBZ fell off I may have been. But I hate weeaboos, japanophiles, "OMG! I hate dubs, even though I can't comprehend Japanese" they also have this snobbish,bullish imperialistic snideness about Anime. And having Anime posers(the kids who watched Naruto on Toonami) that they like to call out. I hate that, but I love Anime.

I'm not a fan of most dubs, mainly because the voice acting is so atrocious at times. If it has decent English voices then I'll watch that (Evangelion, Haruhi Suzumiya, Fullmetal Alchemist all come to mind), but for the most part the Japanese voices often fit the characters better and portray emotion better.
I'm in the middle when it comes to anime. I certainly don't hate it, but I only really have a passing interest in it. Elfen Lied and Death Note are my favourites.
I don't mind anime. I rather enjoy some series, it's usually the people that watch it that bother me more then the shows themself. That said I don't bother watching much because I don't care enough to spend time looking for decent anime shows. So I guess you could say that i'm one of those "middle ground" people.

The only anime movies I am fond of are Spirited Away, Akira, Endless Waltz and I liked this movie where some chick blew herself up in a sewer (can't remember the name). As far as series I enjoyed Robotech, Gundam Wing, and...Cromartie High and Colorful (I think that's what it's called). There's only a couple others I don't remember too well, but they were action oriented.

A few animes that I would recommend from that selection is Baccano, which is an anime about the prohibition era mafia bosses and the development of a special liquor which grants eternal life. It is sort of a like a cross between Highlander and Godfathers. I may also recommend something like Pumpkin Scissors, which is about anti-tank troopers. Maybe even Flag, which is also about war. And thef inal one I would recommend is Coyote Ragtime Show.
The only thing that really puts me off anime is attempts at humour, honestly every single anime I have watched has at least one or two "funny" episodes that are just plain painful to watch, I mean does anyone actually find those kinds of episodes funny at all? I also get put off by some of the overly outrageous and absurd art styles but I would say in general I like anime, it is just another medium for telling a story and sometimes those stories are good, and a lot of the time they are just plain bad, just like all mediums.

There is no one art style for anime. Many anime art styles are actually relatively tame. You only start running into extravagant art in shounen like Tengan Toppa.

There is no one art style for anime. Many anime art styles are actually relatively tame. You only start running into extravagant art in shounen like Tengan Toppa. Yeah I know, that's why I said some :P I don't mind a lot of the art styles is just that I've seen some that are just plain ridiculous or simply ugly and it makes it really hard to watch and take the anime seriously, like Code Geass, the art style isn't really over the top but I just find it ugly and I'm having a hard time getting into it because of that. Then of course you get the really cool ones.
People who don't like anime are probably Code Geass, Guren Lagann, and whatever stuff that is epic related to anime, virgins. I bet that if they watch any of those, they'll turn around. Of course, that's me. I have nothing on haters and lovers even if I'm a lover myself.
Meh, I'm not particularly bothered about anime, what I do really hate is how there are just so many bloody anime geeks all over everywhere posting anime all over the place because they are that damn obsessed with it :x

Exactly. Shonen jump sucks. It's all the same and it's targeted at 7-year-olds, even though high school students get into it. If you want something good, read Blade of the Immortal.
I really can't say I hate anime; after all, the whole thing has so much variety that you're fairly likely to find something you like. Take me, for example. I've enjoyed a few series here and there (there's an average of about one series a year that I really enjoy), but aside from that I find that I don't care for the rest. It's exactly the same with movies, or live action television, etc. For me it's just another medium. That said, I can clearly identify what I DON'T like. First off, ditch this moe crap. Second, what's the appeal of high school harem shows? Third, characters are all-too often hugely predictable; they only interest me when they completely rebuff stereotypes (Osaka) or take a certain dimension far, FAR past its logical conclusion (Kamina, or half the characters in Baccano!).
I used to love it, but now at best I'm indifferent towards to it. There's still a couple series I enjoy, but I don't follow any new shows or watch any "classic" old series anymore. It's just not a part of my life anymore, and I'm ok with that. I'm sort of happy I got out of that phase.
