Im looking for something very story driven with cliffhangers. It can be of any genre as long as the characters are likeable and story is good.

I DO NOT want anime in which every episode is a brand new adventure with a new villain the protagonists must defeat. Thats why I want something with cliffhangers.

Some examples would be Death Note and Code Geass. Story keeps moving and every episode is linked to the previous.

Well its a short series but I always recommend Angel Beats to anyone who asks about Anime. Of all the people I have gotten to watch it I have yet to hear anything negative and some of them became bigger fans than I was

Every episode is a continuing story. Its 13 episodes I think long

Here is a trailer for you

TC. Do you mean episodic? Why? Why don't you like things of episodic nature?

I tell you this...intelligent people like things of episodic nature.

Don't you want to be intelligent?

I would go for Trigun. At first, it's a bunch of individual adventures of Vash, but by the end everything ties up well, considering the Anime stopped short of the Manga.

Try Darker than Black, although there are 2 episode arcs, give it a chance.

Higurashi no nuku koro ni (i think i spelt it right?), its not arcs, nobody whos watched it has ever said anything bad about the story (as far as I know), its drama/horror, it's REALLY hard to explain without giving the whole point of the anime away. It really leaves you thinking (it kinda closes up at the end of season 2, with a great ending), the music also really fits the anime.

PS: PLEASE, PLEASE dont watch the dubbed version

I feel its a waste of time. After episode 20, the characters still havent gotten anywhere. All theyve done is beaten a bunch of random villains and helped out some side characters along the way who are of no use to the story. I cant stand that kind of anime.

I don't see it being about someones intelligence. I enjoy a few episodic animes. Namely Fullmetal Alchemist and Inuyasha. Overall though I prefer shorter shows that focus more on a direct line of a story. Its just personal preference

Can't recommend Seirei no moribito enough. (Guardian of the spirit in english but who watches anime dubbed in english! Amateurs!)

Seriously, I never see it being thrown around and it's one fine piece of anime.

1- It's made by Production I.G. and they to have some of the best quality of anime out there, (Ghost in the shell comes to mind).

2- It's story driven and focused more on that than the action itself.

3- The fights, when there are, are brutal, fast and completely mind blowing while remaining realistic.

4- The protagonist is a mature woman and not a squeaky voiced female teen or some misunderstood teen boy (my god yess! take that anime cliches)

5- Remembers me a lot of Mononoke in some way.

Not much of an Anime fan save for a few of the more common place mainstream ones (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Jin Roh..) and to some extent, the cutesy almost pedophileish girly anime series...like Bottle Fairies and Ichigo Masamune(sp?)

But I stumbled upon THIS and I think It might help you out a bit.

Enjoy.

If you want an Anime that will make you want to watch the next episode then you could try Elfen Lied. However i would recommend trying to watch just an episode or 2 THEN watching the whole thing. This is because it's incredibly bloody and violent which some people find to much or un-necessary. I'm not saying it's bad but (because i loved it :D) but i think it's a hit or a miss with most people.

Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, Inuyasha, and Soul Eater. Kenshin has a very episodic first season, but the second is one extended plotline. That said the first season of Kenshin is still amazing.

All four are action animes, by the way. Yu Yu Hakusho and Inuyasha especially (especially Yu Yu Hakusho) you shouldn't watch unless you like a good amount of time dedicated to fights. That said they all have great characters and plots.

I wouldn't watch it dubbed if I were you cause it loses a lot of emotion.

Sora No Manimani might be something you would like

Its a high school anime but its all about an astronomy club and they focus heavily on the stars and constellations. I liked it alot.
