Ann Coulter says that being exposed to radiation can be good for you! I think the most ludicrous part of the whole thing is not her saying that radiation might be good for you as she does cite some theoretic studies, but her reasoning for reporting about it.

It seems from the interview, that her main reason for wanting radiation to be good for people is simply so she can ignorantly pick on the government. Oh, and her comments about how the news should be reporting a theoretic science as a fact are great too:D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpNjUGvry40

Btw, I say we test the theory by exposing Ann Coulter to some radiation first hand:P

My sister is claiming she has "radiation poisoning" (not even joking. We live in BC, quite far inland, so she does not have radiation poisoning) so maybe I should show her that. She doesn't know that woman or about faux news, so she'd probably believe it and (hopefully) stop pretending she has radiation poisoning....

Wow, ok yeah then she most certainly does not run the risk of any sort of radiation poisioning. I should have seen BC and realized British Columbia, I just assumed though, with the next sentence that it was a region in Japan or something.

Tell her one multivitamin a day and broccoli will prevent radiation poisoning. At least get some good out of it.

I wonder if she's merely mocking the radiation hysteria? We're exposed to it everyday. Cell phones, microwaves, and we get huge doses of it from flight.

That's because radiation therapy is aimed at KILLING malignant tumors. Radiation in high doses KILLS your cells, it's not good for you.

Lots of statements can be taken out of context. Coulter's is no exception, and neither is mine. I said it's used in therapy, and I might add that it has saved millions of lives. But anything can be bad for you if used incorrectly.

Knowing Ann Coulter, I wouldn't put anything past her. She generally means what she says and isn't afraid of being called out on it. However the radiation being used in therapy is missing the entire point. It's used specifically because it's really ****ing bad for your body and cells to be exposed to high levels of radiation. "I'm just saying", your post kind of misses the whole point of radiation therapy, it's used because it's "bad" for living tissue not the other way around.

It it was anyone (anyone at all) other than Ann Coulter I would give them the benefit of the doubt. But it's Ann Coulter. Plus she even gets called on it by Bill O'Reilly and still persists.

She was talking about it in context to the nuclear accident that is going on in Japan, making it seem as if you can go to the plant or area around it and not get sick or die, which is not the case. She has no idea what she is talking about. Let the experts talk about it, journalists shouldn't be talking about stuff they do not know about.

Nothing is being taken out of context, it's a five minute interview. Also thanks for pointing out my "site", I knew something looked wrong, but I was like no it can't be "sight". Meanwhile, I completely forgot about "cite". I blame sub concious phonetics:P

Although, I'm not particulalry worried that you mis-interpreted anything. I suspect you were just exhibiting a bit of mockingly derisve behavior:P

You are clearly puttin a spin on it. I watched the first few minutes of the video and she says that radiation in SMALL DOSES can be good for you and isn't harmful. She is simply citing studies and examples.

She isn't saying to go to Chernobyl.

If you'll notice in my OP, I was also talking about her reason for reporting it, as well as her whole discussion at the end about how the news needs to be telling us that radiation is good for us.
