This is extremely annoying, so tell me if you get this aswell.

Ok, i will be sitting, talking to someone, and they will say something that is completely wrong, and I'll tell him that he is probably wrong. (I'll try to be nice, I don't even flat out say it) and they will get extremely defensive. so I say, ok what if i show you i, and they something completely ridiculous like "STOP PULLING **** OUT OF YOUR ***!!!

Seriously, does it even matter whether you're right or wrong anymore? all that matters is how arrogant you are.

Am i wrong for admitting when i am wrong, unlike the people i'm talking about? Does it really matter to me? no, if I'm wrong, it doesn't effect me, I just shrug it off, and get on with my life, but i guess thats not an option for some people.

The thing that pisses me off the most is that most of the things people get so angry about are trivial and they don't even have any evidence, or worth-while things to say other than personal attacks and "YOU'RE WRONG!"

But i suppose this isn't the first time this has happened.. just look at Galileo..

Look around, try to tell a Christian this: that the big bang theory was created by Georges Lemaître, a Catholic priest.

if they give you personal attacks, and yell "YOU'RE WRONG" he/she is arrogant, never talk to them again.

Then look around, find an Athiest, and tell him this: That Charles Darwin(Theory of natural selection) believed in God.

If they give you personal attacks, and yell "YOU'RE WRONG" he/she is arrogant, never talk to them again.

People who turn down anything that even remotely resembles anything against their beliefs are true conformists, you know, the ones who Emmerson actually talks about in his writings. And feel free to comment on anything you want, if you don't believe me, say so, if you think i'm a hypcrite(everyone is a little bit), say so

because i'm a self-righteous ***-****, of course!

But seriously, i'm not the type of guy to butt-in, but when i do ussually it's on a project, at school etc. I really Don't like talking to people in general because i just can't put up with half the ****-**** they spew , it just infuriates me, so i don't like to talk in class very often unless it's on something un-debatable.

I also don't talk about something unless i know i'm right, or i will say, "now, i don't know for sure but" or something similiar. I don't try to force my views on people etc. i just see no point in it, you can't stop a freight train with a piece of paper.

I'll probably blog it later on, but let's just say i don't have alot of people tracking me(though my profile is sort of open to the public...) and this is the best way to see peoples opinions on the issue that aren't tracking me etc.

I don't speak unless I know I'm right either. But there are times when it's best to say nothing and let them find out on their own. In other words...there's a time and a place.

You're right, but if it puts my grade in school in jeopardy, when i said i only tell them because of projects etc thats what i mean, if someone in my group says something that effects the outcome of the report/ presentation etc. , i'm not going to go with the group if the others are with him, end of story, and i'll tell them why.

I don't like people that do that to a conversation. When I'm dead wrong, I'll usually just admit it to save face.

My whole class is like that. It is all about being write and pwn the other in a argument discussion or debate. It is hell that i can't prove specific reason for them to believe when i KNOW i am right and they are wrong. And then it is all like you just got pwned or you're noob at this just stop slipping your argument at us and so fourth. I've learned to just sit there and listen and pretend like nothing. It isn't worth to bother what they are trying to debate about.

one more thing, I hate when you know your right and present it in a reasonable way but the person your arguing with brings up nonsense that you know you didnt do or say and makes it into a fact. I also hate when the person your arguing with does that and starts name calling or become threatening. Thats another reason why I end them.

When I say something that is argueable, people will harp me about it and such, sometimes I want to be right, other times I don't. If I speak about I don't fully know about, I would say the word maybe, probably, or possibly, etc, and people would still harp the crap outta me. People woh uncontrollably have to correct other people, quite a few of them a just people who probably don't know the turth about the subject themselves. So usaully, I just say what I know, and What I believe could be part of the subjects process, like a computer monitor and how it works or something. If I'm corrected, then I'm corrected. But I don't agree with them until I find that information backed up.

It's way less intense on a forum though. In person, you can't just leave the conversation like you leave a thread.

When somebody gets in your face and they are wrong you feel upset but when people do it here it's not really a big deal.

Is it possible to "know" you're right, when in fact you are mistaken?

Reminds me of my ex roommate who is just as Irelevent described. He would say "In my opinion, that's a fact". I looked at him for a minute, shook my head and left. What a dolt.

I feel the same, i know i used to be like that when i was younger.

Also, what makes me angry is the fact that people no longer try and think about the other peoples' views before talking. There is a reason people believe in what they do. we just assume that we are right and believe strongly in it. This is most evident in issues like gay marriage and choice vs life. If you actually talk to these people about the views of the other people, they won't even try to understand it. they are either "stupid christians" or "devil-controlled athiests" for choice vs life. of course this isn't right, that may not be who is actually on the other side, but it's the stereo-typed enemy, depending on what side your on.

If I feel strongly about something I will argue my case, but if I'm proven wrong then I'll accept that. Trouble is on this site a lot of arguments start because of personal attacks. I'll try to give an example.

Person A: I think gay marriage is wrong. It goes against my religion.

Person B: Uneducated people often think that way. If marriage can be done through a legal route, as opposed to a religious event, then what's stopping them?

Person A: Why would you assume uneducated people are religious, or indeed vice versa? :|

Person B: Well you came out with a closed-minded bigotted post, so it fits the bill.

The argument will then go off on a tangent about something else, more then likely if religion means bigotry, Obama/McCain or whatever. It is important to consistently to use the rolling eyes emoticon, as well as making sure you explicitly tell the other person they've been proved wrong. Once in a while start the sentence with "Wow, just wow".

I really hate people who state something that is clearly just their opinion, as a fact. That is one thing that grinds my gears!

And I've dealt with people like that here, of course.

I wonder if this derived from something you were saying yesterday.
