Another site uses the exact GS score template & format.

So I somehow ran into site just a couple of minutes of ago and off the bat realized they use the exact same GameSpot score template to score stuff.

There's no subtle difference either, it is exactly the same. Even there individual pages for the games and movies are the exact same as GS's individual game pages.

Since that site's formatting is extremely similar to GameSpot's, is that legal? Can they copy the exact format of one site and use it for their site? Should GameSpot staff be notify of this?

That's funny. You know they say imitation is the highest form of flattery. They look pretty new, since if you hit the forum link, they only have a few posts. They look like they make a half hearted effort to distinguish themselves by not having a "System Wars" forum, instead its, "Systems War." Thought that was cute.

You found GS's Area 51! If it doesn't explode over there they implement it over here!

Well I was thinking of LoTR at first, but angry mob style definitely has it's strong points.

I think it's a template that website's can buy and use freely.

And once we do, we should call it LiLGameSpot :P

I think comicvine looks a lot different from GS, but I can see what you mean in terms of layout. Comicvine is apart of CBS interactive as well as Gamespot. So I think they are probably allowed to share formats and templates with each other for free. Also, I imagine it is easier for the programmers and web designers when shifting back and forth between sites.

Ha wouldn't be the first time another site ripped off GS's look. I don't know what happened to the others though.
