So these past few months I've locked myself away in my house, not contacting any one or going out anywhere, and I've been invited to a party by one of my old friends, and I've decided to go but don't how to control my Anxiety.

The whole meeting new people and socialing makes me really nervous and only add's further fuel to the flame, I was thinking about just drinking myself into a stupor, but then realised that might not be the best thing to do.

Are there any ways i can calm myself down/get myself ready to meet new people again?

if you feel uncomfortable, just leave.

The best way to get over your anxiety is to force yourself to be social.

just go, have a little to drink, get loose, it'll be easier to talk to people. or wait and show up after everyone is already wasted. wasted people are easy to talk to and they love everyone so i'm sure you'll be fine.

Red Bull helps me. But what do I know. I've been sitting inside posting on an internet forum for weeks straight.

Go somewhere where you can sit comfortably and in peace, close your eyes, and try to concentrate only on your breathing. If your mind wants to wander, pull it back to your breathing. Do this for 20 minutes.

How about you just stop overthinking things. Then you won't have to worry. You know, I really love how in today's day and age, we no longer have to worry about petty issues like....survival...that we can come up with brand new problems to overcome.

Going to a psychologist and a psychiatrist and depending on how long you had these problems a few months or years of work with them. Im in a similar situation and not getting help will only make it worse becouse with strong anxiety or different phobias logic alone as in " I know I have nothing to fear" does not work.

Role-play! Make up an interesting character for yourself (a foreign accent is always good for beginners) and try to 'play' that character at the party without anybody noticing.

Yes you will. Only a nice person would have an avatar from the lol-comics website.
