Any Art Lovers/Artists in OT?

Are there? Personally I love art and I really enjoy painting. I'm going to study fine art at university next year.

Anyway, use this thread to discuss your favourite artists, periods and movements or even to post your own work - whether it be painting, photography or whatever. I doubt this thread will take off, but sure.:P

Some art is very unimpressive, liek the first picture you posted here, anyone could paint that. Needless to say I'm not very into the whole abstract art thing, as anyone could do it.

And getting famous in that way is more about how your known than your acual talent.

I like art that acually takes talent to produce. Van Gogh has some good stuff. I don't know many artists, but I like art that acually looks like things, because I know I personally couldn't do it, and that it acually would take some painting talent to be able to reproduce.

You just listed some of my favourites. Egon Schiele and Gustav Glimt are two of my favourite artists. I really like Camille Rose Garcia and Tamara de Lempicka as well.

At school I hate the subject Art, but dont mind Design. I prefer the more technical side of things. Only problem is I am not very articulate in my drawings. Best thing I ever drew was a design for a custom bass guitar, but I got all these idea but I cant make them manifest. Thats why I prefer filming and directing along with story writing because I got full control over things and I can make it look how I envision it and not work to hard at it.

Reminds me of this one dude I knew at uni who only drew like one thing, but that one thing was badass. And he spent the semester just adding to it and critiquing it. While all the other students got more credit for diversity, he blew everyone out of the water with the best piece of work.

I sketch.....I admire art..though honestly I feel like today's art is less about skill then trying to be outrageous......only pic I've drawn that I've loaded online is one I did when I was younger.....

My mother is an artist so I grew up around it and got an art education whetherI wanted it or not. Sadly, I can't draw, paint, or sculpt. Not even a stick figure. Wish I could. My appreciation for art doesn't have that deep emotional passion either. Dunno why. I can appreciate it and like to, but it's always from a more technical standpoint.

I like Early Renaissance (Botticelli and Van Eyck) and Baroque (Rubens does an excellent job of capturing emotion).

Used to like Impressionism but it's been so abused by Dr.'s offices and soccer mom's with cheap prints that it makes me sick. Fortunately, early Renoir and Gaugin remain relatively untouched.

I appreciate art, and I am an artist.

I'm in school for a Bachelor's in Fine Arts in Game Art & Design.

The nose on the 1st one is a bit messed up, I accidentally made a hole in the paper and tried to patch it up :?

I have got other pieces that are better but they are still at school, they were GCSE pieces so they are still being moderated.
