Any doom metal fans?

Just wondering what kind of fandom this genre has here on gs.

I do. Candlemass, November's Doom, Evoken, Type O Negative, Octavia Sperati, Mael Mordha, Draconian. To name some I listen to off the top of my head. I realise most i listed are cross genre.lycrof

I just started listening to doom metal, but I really like Electric Wizard, Boris, and Sleep. Are they doom?

I don't listen to them, but according to metal-archives they appear to be stoner/doom

Only DM band I like is My Dying Bride. Love that band.SimpJee

Great band, but you'd probably like early(ish) Paradise Lost as well. Katatonia, Opeth and Anathema are all good bands too.

I like Opeth a lot, I've heard of Katatonia and Anathema but haven't listened to them yet. Haven't heard any Paradise Lost either.

Katatonia and Opeth have shared members through most of their history, but Katatonia use clean vocals and have a similar musical style to Opeth, mayby not as Death-y. Anathema are an English Doom band, went from Death/Doom, like MDB and Paradise Lost, to a more clean style, over a number of albums. Paradise Lost did the same - I would highly recommend any of these bands as they rank highly amongst my favourites.

I don't think that is metalcore but I am no expert.

I like some Doom Metal, like Cathedral, Place of Skulls, some Black Sabbath (some people don't know that it's doom), not sure if The Hidden Hand or Spirit Caravan are doom though..Efielret

THH is Scott 'Wino' Weinrich's band... the godafther of modern doom! Anyone who was in St Vitus and The Obsessed must be doom!

I don't know what to call it, but to use the term emo with those two bands is insulting to the original emo bands from the early 90's. I suppose meanings change, but Still Remains is very different from Rites Of Spring.

Lacrimas Produndare is pretty good German gothic/doom metal.

i listen to doom metal every now and then. my brother listens to a lot of doom metal though.
