Has anyone had any success with celebrity fan mail responses? Did you ever send a letter to your favorite actor, singer, writer etc... and got a response??

I did send a letter to a football manager with the help of my parents when I was 5-6.

After a few weeks, I did get a reply in the post, with the usual "best wishes for the future, thanks for being a huge fan, etc". It did seem kind of like someone else had written it, but it did have his signature at the bottom, so I treasured it for a while until I grew out of football.

@sam_p: how can one make sure that the mailing address is correct? or is it just trial and error from whatever you find online?

We just mailed it directly to the stadium. It wasn't a local club so we got the full address off the internet and added the manager's name. Truth be told I wasn't expecting a reply but surprisingly I got one.

For all I know it could've been signed by the guy who cleans the kits but to a young kid it meant a whole lot.

Never mailed a celeb. I hear they all have a filter and then they only get like ten letters after that.

I got a letter back from Mike Singletary years ago (late 80s). I was a big fan of the Chicago Bears when I was little. My mom used to take my older brother and me to their training camp in Platteville, WI from when they first started there in the early 80s up until 1990.

I used to have autographs from a ton of football players; William Perry, Neal Anderson, Mike Singletary and so on....sadly I don't remember whatever happened to them (probably got lost in the sea of my childhood toys and papers and tossed). The only guy that wouldn't sign anything was Jim McMahon. Mike Singletary would walk down the row between all the people visiting and he'd stop to sign for every kid he walked by - awesome guy.

I've never been a big enough fan of someone to attempt to correspond. It seems like wasted effort considering how much fan mail they probably receive.

I got to meet Singletary at a football camp his former Bears teammate, Dave Duerson, hosted at Ball State University when I was a kid.

@bforrester420: That is very true. I can't blame them if they do not respond. Most "fans" just want to collect all the autographs they can get their hands on, regardless of the celebrity. I'm actually looking for insights and advice on some of my personal projects (music and film directing) that I am currently conducting with my friends. Would be nice to know their inspirations and maybe even treat them and be treated as friends, rather than autograph e-bay generating revenue.

Find a celeb or pseudo celeb who is doing a lot of time and you'd most likely have better results.

Don't blame you as I don't have Facebook/Twitter/Instagram. But you as a fading celebrity need to stay in tune with the millennials to stay relevant to the youth.

I see celebrities as regular people, so i wouldn't care. They just doing a job like all of us, except they get paid way more. So i don't see a point in writing to them? What could they possibly do for you ? I'm sure the answer is nothing.

It actually goes through a machine that scans them.
