I'm liking it, but I'm really hating the delay for season 5.lamprey263I can see why, I like it because now I have time to watch up through the fourth season :P I love Betty Draper, she's so sweet but he treats her like garbage.
I've seen the first two seasons, but I haven't liked it that much. I'm deeply concerned for every married couple that watches this show because I think it encourages adultery, although maybe not deliberately.Genetic_Codehaha maybe, but I think it's fun for couples to watch....it's no worse than any "Days of Our Lives" or any other lame soap opera, just this one has historical class and appeal to me (and I love the acting/cinematography) a lot of it reminds me of Casino, Scarface, etc. etc.
i got about 2 and a half seasons in and at first i thought it was awesome then it got boring so i stopped watching it.

Honestly...no. I think it's well-made, but a show has to have high stakes for me to get emotionally involved with it. By that I mean the consequences for failure have to be severe. Let's look at the consequences for failure in these different shows:
I watched some of the first season and lost interest.
As a history major I love it, those shows are ahistorical (so they can have "high stakes") whilst MM presents topics and issues that reflect the periodHonestly...no. Babylon 5 is ahistorical, is it?
Yeah its one of my favorite series. I really need to finish season 4 before the next season comes out.
I liked it at first but I feel after two seasons and a half that the show doesn't really go anywhere. If half the characters die, I don't think I would honestly care. Breaking Bad, now that's a good show.

Lol no kidding, errbody cheats on errbody! But yeah, Mad Men is one of my favourite shows, and I totally understand that it isn't a lot of people's cup of tea because it is a far more restrained and quiet drama than most shows present. Not to mention it has spawned one of the greatest characters of all-time, Don Draper.
If by not much you mean everything, then yes, I totally agree :)It was good until season 4(not much going on)

Yea, it is. Ahistorical = not pertaining to historyI hope Mad Men takes the Emmy tonight. It really deserves it after the last season which was maybe the best. And if Jon Hamm doesn't win...I'll punch my TV.
I hope Kyle Chandler's face is on the tv when you punch it.I hope Mad Men takes the Emmy tonight. It really deserves it after the last season which was maybe the best. And if Jon Hamm doesn't win...I'll punch my TV.

Hamm submitted The Suitcase and there's no Bryan Cranston this year. As nice as it would be to see FNL/Kyle Chandler get some recognition, the only way Hamm doesn't win is if there are some Jon Cryer-winning-best-actor-in-a-comedy-level shenanigans.

I think I'd use the term "non-historical," but whatever. The histrocity of a show does not relate to the "stakes" as I described them. I enjoyed Rome, which was a period piece and had some action.

Oooo, I see. I thought you meant like "big, fancy explosions/action" type spiel. Lots of my professors make us use "ahistorical" that's why I squeaked it in there :pPlease Log In to post.
