Anybody else think dubstep is extremely boring music?

There has been a certain amount of hype around this music, so I tried some out, and discovered that its boring, droning, mechanical **** pretty much like the majority of electronica, techno, trance, rave, whatever. Don't get me wrong. I do like some good dance music, but every dubstep song I've listened to has been unimaginative and soulless.

Thoughts?

Its pretty awful to be honest. The genre is incredibly repetitive with most songs sounding the same as the other.

How is it unimaginative? Its basically creating different music with other music into your own style.

If you have any insight into 21st century music and even BEFORE, you would of understood but since you dont dubstep is just creating music on the COMPUTER by remixing and sampling from other music, with each dubstep SONG you typically have the creator or DJ who made have his or her own unique variation incorporated into somthing they LIKE.

My argument is that the results are unimaginative. The songs are muddy, droning and samey-sounding.

As with every genre you have good people who write good stuff and people who do bad stuff. You took a small sample and have come to the conclusion it sucks. It may not be for you, or you have just been listening to crap. It could be both.

sounds like you don't like electronics in general,so don't blame it on dubstep, dubstep is a genre that you'd have to give it some time to grow on you.and once it grew it would be hard for you to listen to anything else, atleast for a while.

There is A LOT of dubstep that sounds the exact same and doesn't even try to sound appealing but instead opts to go for the WOOOOOOOM WOOOOOM WOOOOOOM WEEOOOOOOM. However there are a lot of dubstep artists and songs that do sound good.

I like some electronic music. I think Madonna's Ray of Light is one of the greatest pop albums ever made and it is largely electronic.

Those sound pretty good (especially the second), but I'd argue that they are not all that dubstep. More like dubstep-flavored hybrid genre songs. The first one sounds more like hip hop than anything.

Overall artists of the genre are churning out total garbage. It's not all bad, though.

Kryptic Minds' stuff is pretty good.. though their DnB is better.

2562 is good.

Burial and Clubroot are both awesome, though their primary "sound" is not dubstep, it's 2-step/garage. Same with Synkro..or at least the stuff I've heard from him.

People like it because: It's simple, repetitive and has no focus. Probably the same reason people like pop music. It's meant for the masses.

Pop music is actually probably the most focused music out there. Whether that makes it good is another question, but there's no doubt it is focused.

I could never figure out just wtf I was ever listening to. it always sounds like another artists song, very muted with tons of electronic overlap, like it was trying to go for a techno mix of the song in the backround, but the recording mixer botched the levels.

I know I'm probably about to be crusaded on by Dubstep fans. and that's fine. as I said, I couldn't ever figure out what I was listening too, nor is it really in my music taste.

What I was trying to say is that is was for the masses. They do share the trait of following what others have done before them, though dub music just sounds like noise while pop music at least has catchiness.

Tell me you don't like this.

Some dubstep sucks but there's a lot of good stuff out there too.

Also it helps if you aren't sober. :P

edit: Crappy speakers will not do this song justice. Decent speakers with a subwoofer and this song really packs a punch.

The guitar does gives it more energy that dubstep usually has, but I'm not really feeling that TBH.

Trust me, you get that hooked up to some decent speakers with a good sub and it's a completely different song.

My head explodes when I play it in my friends car who's got subs in the back.

Dubstep is really a love it or hate it genre, there are some nasty sounds that people hate and other people (me) love. Agreed there is a lot of boring Dubstep, but that is the more mainstream stuff. Tell me, what artists have you listened to? I suggest Zeds Dead
