Anybody here in a band?

A friend of mine just recently asked me to join a band that hes putting together.

I'm more than a little nervous. The dude kills it on the guitar. The dude sight-reads music just as good as he can improve. That and he plays around with just about every genre of music. Which is what he wants his band to be able to do....play a little bit of everything.

I guess I'm just doubting my skills compared to his. Is this a normal thing to feel when your joining a band?

While were on the topic of bands. What is your bands routine. How do you go about making a new song and such?

olol... When I was in my first band, I had the impression that we were going to have to learn how to read music and do everything proporly... Man, words fail to describe how wrong I was...

Don't be nervous, brah... You generally just have fun and mess around...

My typical 'band practice' goes like this...

We all get there...

Make a bunch of noise for thirty minutes...

Stop, and think about writing some songs/practicing them...

Don't and make some noise for thirty more minutes...

Leave garage...

Go inside and use excessive profanity...

Generally say "F--- this!" and walk to McDonalds or something...

But, it's just fun, brah.

Yes, I'm in a band. And yes my band mates are all so crazy talented that I want to vomit from nervousness before every rehearsal. But I go anyway. Why? Because it's so much fun. And they actually seem to think I'm pretty good. megagene

Hmm. Its funny how that works sometimes.

Guess I'll have to see how things turn out in the next few weeks.

I'm in a metal band (I guess we're power metal). They were already a band when I joined, and they had songs and stuff, but one of the guitarists quit and I was asked to join.needled24-7

That situatuion would be even worse for me. I would be worrying about how I hold up to the last guy all the time.
