Just as teams do what it takes to win, and businesses do what it takes to grow, artists do what it takes to sell. If that means going mainstream and abandoning fans, they are willing to do it the majority of the timesRPG10080Im sure they would sell even without them pulling a Linken Park or a Metalica and dissing some of there early fans. Hopefully there album isnt so bad and is nothing like the single.

Coldplay has turned down multi million £ contracts to avoid letting their music be used in advertisements because they felt it took away from the emotion of their music. They don't do it for the money.
Btw i just seen The Cure on Wed, they were great :)I've never particularly liked Coldplay...so no disappointment here.

Yep. Saw them twice thus far. I think they are music's best kept secret.

Im sure there no secret, popularity wise they are like The Smiths. Very influential, not mainstream popular but not indie/underground unknown as well.Their first album is still their best; before Chris Martin's head got so big, and started tapeing himself.
X&Y is about as commercial, arena rock as you can get. I've heard the new single and it's decent; horrible album title, though.

Hits in the 80's yes....but most people I've encountered haven't heard of them.... One is either a fan....or doesn't know them.

Not a fan of Coldplay, but the single is good, and I love the iTunes commercial.

It's an advert for their music, along with where to buy it. It's only available on Itunes though, so they can hardly say in stores now. It's a deal to advertise their album, not the Ipod or apple.

It's called cross merchandising. They advertise both.:|

There new song shows why, im glad to see imnot the only one.I like it... I'm a fan of all that I've heard of it so far. I'm not saying I hate the old Coldplay, but I realized that a lot of their songs have the same verses repeated over and over again. Take Clocks, for example.[QUOTE="mexicangordo"][QUOTE="dreDREb13"]Jeez. A lot of Coldplay hate in here, isn't there? :|dreDREb13
"And nothing else compares" and "You are" and "home, home where I wanted to go".
Alot of very great bands repeat there verse, Nirvana is known for it, and if a band is able to pull it off then the song is considered to be catchy just like alot of coldplaysongs. Please Log In to post.
