Never been to California, never will. The attitude coming out of California is the "We're better than you" attitude so I hate it.
Same goes to Massachusetts, I've been there before but I don't plan on returning because of the same attitude.
Same goes for Texas, Hawaii, and Florida.
Hey you stop right there! Don't be diss my hood, born and raised thug life.
"Sometimes I feel like I don't have a parthner, Sometimes I feel like my only friend, it the city I live in, the City of Angels, lonely as I am, togehter we cry"
I have lived here for a few years and I hate it. The city has no soul, no heart and center to it. There are tons and tons of idiotic people, valley girls who obsess over weight and fashion. There is nothing about L.A I like, sure there are some people I like in it, but the things I do in L.A I enjoy are never enjoyable because I do them in L.A. Film-Guy
i didn't get ur reasons to call it souless
Yeah, I feel the same way. I was born and raised in L.A., and that place is just messed up when I see it now. San Diego is slightly better, but I think Riverside is the best. I think it's because it's not as Urban as the other cities and not many really need to go with the "trends". It's very calm in that place and have very friendly people.
I remember in a mall in L.A., my friend actually tripped and no one came to help her. Seriously, there was a huge crowd and some people just even stood there staring at her. That's what really made me hate L.A. so much........Oh and the celebrities who act like they own parts of the place there.
what do you mean by cali has no soul? how does a city posses thatqualitiy.phil1472
Some parts of cali do like San Fransisco, but Los Angeles has nothing like that, it has no center and nothing unique or interesting about it. It has no good vibes and no heart and soul. A city like Madrid, Stockholm and Sicily all have uniqueness to them and are interesting and they have good culture. L.A has none of that.

I submit that LA offered very crappy buttrock bands during the 1980s...like Faster **** Quiet Riot, Poison and Warrant.
That's high culture. :)
L.A. has some soul to it.. when you think of L.A., you think of palm trees, beaches, movie stars, hollywood, beach boys, then the whole crenshaw, south central, compton watts, rosecrans kind of L.A. L.A. really does have an identity. Now I live in Houston, Texas... and there really isn't any "soul" here..
And it's sad, because I'm from New Orleans. A city that has probably the most soul in America. The culture is so different there. Everybody has a new orleans accent, and you can tell what part of the city they were raised in by subtleties in their accent. People eat different food, mardi gras, parades (they have parades all throughout the year, not just mardi gras), lots of history, I don't really know how to explain it... it's just got a lot of soul.
gtfo. Cali > your life :PI don't care for the state, outside it being a tourist destination.

My aunt lives in Los Angeles and I never have been able to figure out why, it doesn't fit her at all. Or at least what I know about her. I think she likes it since it's nothing like home, since they grew up in a small city in Ohio. I live in the capital so I'm fairly cool with Ohio. Plan on moving to Toronto but that's a long different story. I visited once and within' the first 24 hours being in the city I saw helicopters and cop cars surrounding a freaking Del Taco. It was something you would see in like San Andreas or something. But yeah it's a weird place, you got all the phony insecure actors/actresses and the all of the weirdo's and junkies. I understood within' the one week I was there why a lot of people in general but also why musicians dislike the place so much. Just in that one week I was a little sick of it. I think it was in part of coast difference people in the west coast got a fairly different mindset then people in the east. Look at NYC and LA, you follow me. Though I haven't been to NYC (going later in the month for a day or two then to Boston) you see pictures of it and it's more "work-minded" so to say where LA is more laided back and more "play-minded".
I could see the city had a LOT of problems (del taco), just about every day I was there I saw someone getting arrested or something involving the police, I wouldn't put it has far as saying it was a police state but seemed not too far from it. Don't know about no soul it had more of a grey smoggy soul. I did like seeing all the Mexicans though, I find it to be cool since I've always felt bad for Mexican-Americans since they get so much smack talk for coming to America.
