That's nice. But a drink or two in moderation is not harmful, doesn't cost more than drinking something else, doesn't destroy a liver, and has health benefits. So climb off that high horse....
It's actually healthy.....I'm seeing a lot of >implying in the OP.
Having an occasional drink does not mean an unhealthy lifestyle.

i'm pretty close to being a tea totaller.
i will maybe have 5 or 6 Â beers a year.
i just get sick of soft drinks once every other month or so and drink a beer or two.
also i think total abstinence is most likely bad for your health just because that is usually the way total  abstinence of anything is.

I wouldn't say that's true for everyone. Â Some people have adverse reactions to even the slightest amount of alcohol. Â I have only met one person in my life that I can say this for though, so a very rare case.
I drink every day a bit and I've lost 20 lbs over the past year from exercise and eating healthy.
I can do everything you just said you do without alcohol with alcohol being a part of my daily diet.
Moderation and responsibility are far greater than just giving it all up. Giving it all up shows that you don't know how to control yourself properly and enjoy things in moderation.

well come on, some people die if they come into contact with milk or peanuts. we don't use them as the example of why dairy is a deadly unhealthy threat to the world.[QUOTE="LJS9502_basic"]

Yeah there are people who are allergic to alcohol. Those are rare cases. It's just like any other food allergy.Â

Just like milk and peanuts are not good for everyone.

Still harmful to those few individuals.

technically they are not allergic to alcohol, they are allergic to the sulfides, proteins  and yeast  in beer and wine.i have never heard of anyone being allergic to just alcohol.

I don't drink either. Although a glass of wine a day is good for the heart. Smoothes out the blood so that it can travel easily through the arteries/veins.
I drink socially, maybe once every week or two. I don't understand people who have this "houlier than thou" attitude when it comes to alcohol. In moderation it is not bad for you, it is in fact healthy in small doeses. As for the taste, there are hundreds of types of consumable alcohol, if you can't find one that you like, then that is on you. Also, it seems like you (TC) are saying the only reason you haven't been caught driving under the influence and don't beat your wife is because you don't drink. The vast majority of people who drink are very responsible about it. Also, I find it amusing how you manage to sneak in how much you can bench press (because that is completely related to your alcohol consumption... sarcasm if you couldn't detect it).
Anyway, I enjoy having a beer or two while watching a hockey game and eating some wings with friends at the bar. If you want to be that douche who won't hang out with people who drink because you think you are better than them, all the power to you.
Sounds to me like TC doesn't know the meaning of moderation.Sword-DemonI was thinking the exact same thing...
they are usually in horrible shape, don't have social skills unless they drink and those around them drink, and some don't like to drink at all, they just do it to be conformist and to fit in.GalvatronType_RI was going to respect what you were saying until you went of on this rant...
but anyway you aren't right. "Researchers conclude that drinking alcohol is strongly associated with factors favoring "a superior overall health status and a lower risk of [cardiovascular disease] in moderate alcohol drinkers" compared with people who said they had never drank alcohol. The researchers write that moderate drinking of alcohol is a "powerful general indicator of optimal social status.""

I drink alcohol occasionally. It's enjoyable in the right circumstancs, especially a good glass of red wine. One glass a day can actually be benficial to your health.Â
