Sometimes I have my moments like that. I'll be honest. I think maybe because it has no direct bearing on us. It's in another country, with people we have no direct ties to.

Still, it is horrible. And we should honor these people and understand their deaths as cautionary tales.

I don't even care of death near me so other country... I guess that seeing dead after dead on the news make it like a everyday thing. I don't care and never did.

Well Stalin's quote pretty much sums it up: "The death of one man is a tragedy. The death of millions is a statistic."

How are we supposed to care about people when they are referred to in such an abstract way?

I feel sad but I admit I don't care as much as I would if it had happened in my country.

If I didn't know them personally then it usually doesn't bother me all that much. But in some cases I feel a little sad in general but in the end there's really nothing I can do about something beyond my control

It upsets me. A lot. I avoid all news shows, radio shows and newspapers for just that reason.

Nothing upsets me more than hearing about stuff like that.

I don't really care... I hear of death on the news all the time, I've gotten used to it.

Unless if it's someone I know... You feel empty. You didn't get to say all the things you so desperately wanted to say...

So? Why should anyone care about you? Why are you important? Your no ones responsibility. I love this world, no one cares about anyone else but everyone needs to care about them.

Our media is saturated with so much bad news, it's to be expected and on such a large/often scale that people evetually grow a deaf ear, blind eye and cold heart etc to these events. So much that the question goes from "I wonder if any will die today?..." to "I wonder how many people will die today?..."

Then again, as cold as it may sound, you really can't go around feeling sorry for the whole world your whole entire life.

It used to not matter so much, now it sometimes does. See, I'm an Army man and I have friends over there. It really hit home the first time I got a call telling me my buddy got blown up. Now every time I hear about "troops killed in combat" it makes me wonder if it was another friend.

Generally, when I hear about people dying on the news or when someone I knew died that I wasn't close to, I just say "Bummer." That's all I do. I don't think about it and I don't really talk about it much because people die everyday whether they were shot or died of old age. Death comes to all of us and we can't avoid it.

To be honest it's very difficult to not be apathetic towards these things. I do generally get bothered by people who get all sad when someone in their own country dies however. Like my old teacher burst into tears when she heard of the bombings in london. Others were going on about how touched they were that she was so sad; i just thought she's a person who only gives a crap about people when they're on her doorstep.

I feel mix feelings when I hear of death out of my family, I hate death for any one who doesn't have it coming, which is 99.9 of people. It's more I feel it's not my full job to take care of it myself. Like your Kenyan example is sad I would have liked more detrail of how they died but whatever but I feel bad but not really bad but something like how Israel abuses Palestine that's to me someting worth fighting for in my opition.

It's not that we don't care, it's that we never met them and can't travel for help, only if your in the army or redcross or something. If we travel for help on our own we'd be poor badly.

Hm.. maybe if they were an ally of the US, but i dont have much sympathy towards people living in the Middle East. I've grown to think that it would probably do the world some good if there was less of those people, that encourage rape murder. Or at least that is what i tell myself.

If they were children i would have some sympathy.

Doesn't upset me at all. I'm like, "Yeah okay". If I read more into it though, interview with parents of dead ones for example it will get me a bit though.

If I see the murder, I will feel emotional for them, I have seen the whole behedding thing(Never want to again really....) and it makes me feel very sad, however, when I hear of someone I don't know you can't really empathize.

I can't be emotionally attached to them, but I will say "Jesus Christ, that's messed up!" - or "I'm sick of this crap on the news all the time, change the channel to something good."

What usually bothers me more is the fact that such things don't really bother me. On the other hand, if I really cared about everyone I'd be so melancholy that I probably wouldn't even bother getting out of bed.

Still, it's kind of weird... I mean, I want to care, but I don't.

I don't really care when people I know die. It is a fact of life and just has to be accepted. Yes, it can be sad but you have to get past that and remember the people for who they were when they were alive, the happy times.

Death is just as an important part of life as living is.
