Anyone else notice how Family Guy has come down to references to itself?

I was watching last week's new episode of Family Guy at my friend's house, and damn they've lost it. I mean, you'd think they lost it (and they did) when they did like 5-6 minute breaking-out of song and dance skits for no reason, but now they've actually referenced to themselves for laughs. That Stewie "emphasis-on-the-H" joke was used twice. They're just stringing old shows nowadays, they've pretty much ruined and overrused Brian and Stewie, and the Peter-hating-Meg running gag is unbearable. The only thing they have left is pretty much Quagmire, who've they sort of fleshed out.

I guess I shouldn't watch TV with my friend anymore. :P Would you say McFarlene ran out of jokes by the second season?

I still think it's funny. I don't really need something completely original to entertain me.

I think you missed the part where I said I was at my friend's house and he put it on.

Yeah, I could've left but then I would've missed a two-hour Fallout 3 gamingfest. That would've sucked.

I like when they do that, makes the stories seem more connected. I love it when Stewie brings up Brians novel, always makes me lol.

Eh, I'd say they jumped the shark when they introduced Brian's somehow-older-than-him son. What makes it worse is that they pretty much put everything in that would prevent that from making any sense ever. Oh, there are other reasons the episode sucks, but I'll leave it at that.

They've been referencing themselves since their return, you know, after Adult Swim repopularized them. But they're still funny imo.

Their jokes get old easily, and imo there's no reason to watch an episode over again. The plots are never interesting or clever, and gags that will make you laugh hard the first time through will not at all be funny the second or third time.

I still find it pretty entertaining but I agree that it has gone downhill. But when you think about it, Family Guy has never really had a plot, it has always been completely random.

I wouldn't go that far, but yes family guy isn't quite as good as it used to be. They're running out of jokes. I think they need to make fun of more random washed out celebrities more often. Judd Hirsch anyone?
