They can be interesting if done well like REC and the original Paranormal Activity, but now they are just getting dull. Chernobyl Diaries looks like a pretty tasteless excuse to have Chernobyl as a horror setting, and that recent movie Chronicle would have been much better without the pointless found footage aspect. Also the Paranormal Activity sequels are getting dull too. I heard there is now going to be a 4th one.

Very, very tired. I pretty much just write off a film that looks to be found footage now.

They all do a bad job of it because the film style is garbage. Having a headache for half the movie isn't my idea of fun.

Yeah, some bother me. But others are done fairly well. You already listed REC and Paranormal Activity. I thought Cloverfield was all right. Chronicle was awesome, as well.

Chernobyl Diaries looks absolutely amazing. I don't know what the problem is lol. It's about time they did a movie in that kind of "semi-realistic" setting. It's at least believable. Never got to see REC but did enjoy Quarantine.

No. Blair Witch is probably the only one I've fully seen, and it was good.

I thought Blair Witch was amazing. Cloverfield, REC, Paranormal Activity, and Grave Encounters were all solid as well. Chernobyl Diaries looks like a good concept but'll probably execute poorly.

If the movie itself is at least decent, I enjoy that sort of film style. Though of course, it's certainly much for suited for horror films.

They've never worked. Also, I was tired of them when Blair Witch Project came out.

i like them alot actually b/c they give low budget movies a chance to look real.you claimed that the movie chronicle would've been better without it but you were skipping the fact that it would've needed way more production costs to be able to leave the same realistic impression.

Yes, I hate it more than anything in movies. I've never seen a film where I thought the style improved it and I'm also sick of shaky cam and lens flare.

I personally see them as having a lots of potential. I am aware that some of the movies looks dull but there has been some gems as well. I am especially intrigued by the Chronicle. I expect that it will be popular at the box office.

Paranormal activity is the new SAW. One sequel every year for Halloween until they actually stop making money. Eventually I will just begin to ignore any horror movie that says "from the creators of paranormal activity". There was one I've been meaning to watch though, grave-something, that was people who lock themselves in a haunted house. It's a jumper movie, and if I want some cheap scares I'll watch it.

Yeah, Grave Encounters, I mentioned it earlier. It's a recent indy-horror flick that's actually pretty cool. It's on Netflix if you have it. Otherwise I'm not sure if there are hard copies.

Yeah that's where I saw it, netflix. Some horror movie site said it was one of the best of last year, so I dunno. They also said "hooker in a trunk" or something was one of the best, and that sounds ridiculous. I like anti-scary movie titles as much as I do super ominous ones.

I'm yet to see one that isn't horribly contrived. Some of the framing in Chronicle is just ridiculous, like when they're being lifted into the air in the car and the girl is still supposed to be filming. There doesn't seem to be any sophisticated relationship between perspective and content either, like whether we're being manipulated by the film within the film. Its a gimmicky sub-genre to me.

I don't have a problem with them and I just view them as a variation on cinema verite that when used properly can greatly enhance the immersive qualities of a film which of course translates well into genre films like horror as it's easy to generate a somewhat inescapable or claustrophobic sense of terror using such a technique. It's also a way to make a film on the cheap so similar to reality TV studios have snapped up or approved practically anything employing such a technique as the risk is very low and so we have to endure a glut of films of mediocre quality employing this technique. They're just like any other type of filmmaking technique...I like the ones I like and not so much the others.

I think the only found footage movie that I've seen was Troll Hunter. It was kind of a neat style of filming, but I don't think I'd want to see much more movies of the genre. They all just seem a bit corny.

I have never seen a single one of these movies, since I'm not a fan of horror.
