Does anyone else have Lemko ancestry in their family? They were a Ukrainian/Ruthenian ethnic group which lived in the Carpathian Mountains and the surrounding area. The Lemkos in Poland were forced from their villages in 1947. It had something to do with the growing number of Polish murders by Ukrainian/Lemkos in the area, I believe. Some returned in the 50's, though. My paternal grandfather's father was a Lemko and lived in southeast Poland until his move to Joliet, IL in the early 1900's.
