Anyone else on gamespot a fan of foreign movies?

When i say foreign i mean anything outside of hollywood basically, and at least for me anywhere but North America, because thats where i am.

Here are some of my favorite foreign flicks:)

^^ A Bittersweet Life

Those are some of my favorites! I know i am missing some though :P

I do enjoy watching Foreign films and I don't understand why people are arguing about subtitles, I actually do like watching subtitles, for I have trouble listening to conversations (especiallyif quiet or gibbled). The Lives of Others is an excellent choice, I want to see Oldboy though.

Most of the films I've watched are not from the U.S. (I live in California). I'm surprised you've seen Last Life In The Universe because I haven't seen anybody else but me mention that movie around here.

I was the same way when i was younger, but ive really come to enjoy them, especially with some of the BS that hollywood is putting out these days. There really are some great movies outside of north america if people just give them a chance :)

I was going to put it on there, but then i thought most people have already heard of it so i didnt think there was much point in me posting it. Wanted to show some other ones that some people might not have seen. I sure do love Panz though, same with some of the directors other movies (The Devils Backbone, etc..)

I have not seen Invisible Waves and it's not a sequel. It's a completely different story and even though the woman with the baby in the trailer is also named Noi (the one who plays Mido in Oldboy). I have seen his most recent film called Ploy (which is my second favorite film of this year) and 6ixtynin9.

Wow!! someone else who has seen Ploy! hehe, its in my top 10 movies of the year to! loved it!

There are subtitles, thats how you understand... I hated the idea of subtitles and another language at first to.. but once you see a few really amazing ones then you start to want to look for more, and the fact that you are reading subtitles doesnt even cross your mind once you get use to them.

I hear Invisible Waves didn't turn out so well, but I was really hooked to the trailer. It's got the creepy music and I love watching Tadanobu Asano act. When Pen-Ek Ratanaruang, Christopher Doyle, and Tadanobu Asano combine to make a film, it's really hard for me to resist, but I'm still having trouble getting a hold of without having to import the movie. I'm a forgiving person when it comes stuff that turns people away, so a lot bad stuff has to go on for me to turn away from any movie.

One of my favourite films is Jean de Florette, which is fantastic. I also really like Belleville Rendez-vous, but nobody speaks in that so it's not so much of a foriegn film.

I like watching them. They are very unique with their storys. I mainly see Thai films for some reason. Everytime i turn the channel on its a thai film. However you do get a few strange ones. I watched a Checkoslavakian (dunno if i spelt it right) film a while ago, and it was a horror film. It involved a tree that some how killed people and it was scary becuase of the whole point and its strangeness. However most i watch are good.

Bollywood movies FTW.

And please don't hate if your impression of Hindi movies comes from Lagaan and/or Bride and Prejudice.

Der Untergang (Downfall) was a pretty good movie.
