A tornado touched down in Colorado today, but it was way northwest of me. I've seen clouds swirl, and once saw a funnel cloud in the air, but it never touched down. I'd love to see one, but not actually be in it.

I remember one time when a tornado came within three miles of my house. A very intense time, but I did not see it. Probably never will see a tornado near my house, either, as they are once-in-a-lifetime occurrences in NY. I even remember the date: May 31, 1998.

One came within a mile of my cottage when I was there. Just a little cabin in the woods with no basement. It was really scary but I got a peek of it :D

I was in a tornado once. Ten years ago this March a tornado worked my hometown. I was eleven at the time, but it was crazy.

Nope, but I've had them within a few miles of my house several times. We've had some horrible storms within the last few years. I was never afraid of storms until recently. We had one where the lightning was constant. There was no break and the thunder shook me to my bones. There was a tornado a mile away, the power was out, and the rain was pounding. My aunt had a tornado touch down in the neighborhood across the street from hers a few days ago. She drove me through the neighborhood and you can actually see the main path that it followed. Some of the houses are completely destroyed, others look perfectly fine, and others are just damaged. One house was still standing, but it looked like I could push it down by myself.

That's a dust devil

Anyway, I've never seen a tornado in person although I was in the area that get hit by the twister that touched down in Atlanta a couple months back. According to some friends I could have seen it if I had noticed that the city was going to hell earlier/hadn't ran for a stairwell when I saw planks of wood and large sheet metal pieces flying past my 14th story window. I saw the aftermath though which, by the way, does rank as one of the coolest things I've ever experienced (like straight out of a disaster movie). I got myself a street light and a street sign that night too :D

I've never seen a real tornado, but they've always fascinated me. It would certainly be an amazing experience to do so.

That was horrible. I saw it on the news. My mom works near Atlanta so she saw it before I did. I didn't see it until a day or two later when she drove me up there. So much damage. I don't think it was that long ago, though, was it?

EDIT: By "it", I'm referring to Atlanta/the damage.

I've seen a whirlpool, a hurricane, a tidal wave, felt an earthquake, a volcanic eruption, a hailstorm, a sandstorm, but never a tornado yet...

Nasty stuff, I've seen 2 touchdowns, and thankfully been far enough away that it didn't bother me, but still nasty stuff

Ahhh.. this explains everything.

I'm working at a Internet technical support call center and one of our companies is stationed over there. We're getting a BUTT load of calls from that area. It's driving me crazy! :x

I've seen many small ones, I once got in one to see what happens. All the small rocks it lifted started to hit me.

Where I am from it's not a matter of "Have you?" but rather, "Which time?".
