I noticed today that there's sort of an unwritten rule that you don't look the hygenist in the eyes when he/she is cleaning your teeth/adjusting your braces. Has anyone ever stared at them without blinking or tried to catch their eye?

I didn't know that rule; I look at them when they talk to me during a cleaning (assuming I can make eye contact depending on where they are)I noticed today that there's sort of an unwritten rule that you don't look the hygenist in the eyes when he/she is cleaning your teeth/adjusting your braces. I do too, but mine doesn't really talk to me when she's cleaning my teeth. If she does, it's just a yes or no question that I can mumble an answer for.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't like to mess with the person that has sharp instruments in my mouth.TheZ3nMan
What's the worst that could happen?
I kept my eyes open the other time but I normally look directly into the light, not at the person. Stareing at her face would of been like staring at your girlfriend while kissing her, you just don't do it. Oh and that's another thing...
my dentist is a hot twenties girl so Im not staring at her face. 8)CyperWingdAngelthey don't call them easy on the eyes for nothing
