I had the pearl before I changed it out for a Bold and then a Storm. Of the three phones the Bold is the best. The Storm is almost there, but it isn't quite on the level as the iPhone. The problem with the pearl is the screen is just to small for email and surfing the web. If you can wait the Niagra will be the best of the Storm and the Bold...full qwerty keyboard, touchscreen, and it will come with OS5.0.

I had a BB 8330, which is similar. There were a lot of things I liked about it, but most people don't need all the features of a smart phone. For me, a BB was not worth the additional money of having a data plan, so I got rid of it and bought a regular phone. It is a good phone though, although I will say that depending on your carrier, some features that come with the BB may be disabled so you have to use (as in pay) for theirs.

You need to ask yourself...do you want to pay 30 dollars extra a month for the BB Data plan (note: not optional if you have a BB). And if you do and you decide to effectively use your phone ie surfing the web and reading/writing email, will the screen be large enough. As a said in my previous post, that was my gripe with the phone, it renders webpages weird b/c of the size of the screen and its hard to write emails on it.

So it really isn't optional to pay the $30/month? I won't be using much data, I just need a new phone (mine really is becoming unusable) and this 70 bucks for a BB seems like a good deal. I'll look it up, but I didn't know a data plan wasn't optional. :(

Yep BB's have to have a data plan. I tried to give my pearl to my wife w/o the plan and Verizon told me not possible. You have to have the plan. If you need a new phone get the samsung GZone, its waterproof. I've actually used my wifes in the shower before.

Okay, so I'll have to take into account all the data plan business. But without considering the extra $30/month, is $70-80 a good deal for the phone itself?
