I can't stand it. I hang out with a friend who's always on his phone texting someone.

I can't stand cell phones in general.
They're great because folks can get a hold of you no matter where you are.
They're annoying because folks can get a hold of you no matter where you are.
I dont find it annoying unless it is excessive and taking away from a conversation I am trying to have with someone. I prefer text messages, because then I can leave someone a message which isn't urgent at all and not have to use my minutes.

Only those who constantly text. I think it's terribly rude to text in the middle of a conversation :(
As long as someone isn't excessively texting someone else while hanging out with me, then I don't really care. I just use texting if I'm trying to plan something with friends.
The only time I text is when I need an answer that can be answered in one text from the person, or to tell my friends to play xbox. For some reason I can't have a conversation during texting because it's weird not to hear that persons voice and see their facial reaction to what I'm saying.
[QUOTE="raven_squad"] That and when idiots do it in the movie theater. clayronI don't mind texting during the previews, but when the movie starts I wish the theatre would just set off a short range EMP because the light from a phone is very distracting/annoying as hell. That would be awesome :o
I find that a lot of people are disconnected from their surrounding because they are so engrossed in texting with someone that's not even there. It's like, why can't you just enjoy the company of the person you are with? I find it very rude, insulting even, when I am having a conversation with someone and they are constantly looking down at their phone like its more important. It's funny that people consider technology a tool for staying in touch with people more readily yet it's having the reverse effect in many ways.
What annoys me is when you are hanging out with someone and they listen to their iPod instead of talking.
Im ok with anything as long as it doesnt interfere.
When i didn't text, i used to hate seeing other people text. A few years later now that my social life has improved, i LOVE texting.ice144texing is a nice thing to do.
Yep. Especially when people are in the middle of a conversation with you and start texting, or when people do it at the table. If my kid ever brought their cellphone to the table and it wasn't due to REALLY needing to talk to somebody, I'd slap them in the face with a spatula.XilePrincessOuch. :c

I have only had annoyance with people listening to iPods
Im right here! You invited me to come now take out the ****ing ear pieces and talk to me!
I witnessed the decay of real social interaction throughout college as texting became popular...
It's useful for when it's a quick question or something, but if someone wants to actually converse with me, better pick up the damn phone!
No I'm not a geezer, only 23.
EDIT: Hell, just remembered that some girl asked me out on a date last night via text message. Yeah... screw that.
having a conversation via text is annoying as hell.
But if i just want to send out a bit of info to my friends and dont want to have to call them, its handy.
