After syncing my iPod last night, it would not let me eject. When I manually ejected, all of my music had been erased.

Now when I plug it into iTunes, it freezes iTunes and will not let me eject it from my PC. I've tried a hard reset, putting it into disk mode (to try and restore factory settings) and reinstalling iTunes. So far nothing has worked. Figured I'd take a shot with you guys before I go out and buy a new one.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

What happened if you plug it into someone else's computer? Does it freeze their iTunes too?

That's the next step for me anyway. Gonna take it to a buddy's house tomorrow. I thought maybe it was my computer so I plugged in a different iPod and it worked just fine. I'm hoping I can get it to work on another computer so I can restore it. But in the event that I can't, does anyone know of any way to restore factory settings without being plugged into a PC?

Have you tried holding down the power and menu button for 15 seconds then letting go of the power button and hold the menu button for 15 more seconds? I believe that wipes out your ipod. Not sure, worth trying tho

Yeah, that's what puts it into disk mode. Doesn't help unless I can connect it to iTunes though, unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Is it the iPod classic? This happens about every year or so with mine and I have to take it to the Apple store for them to give me a new one. I guess because it is the only iPod with an actual hard-drive (moving parts), it screws up eventually.

:? I've had my original ipod classic for 4 going on 5 years, and it still works 100% fine.

Haha lucky guy. It probably doesn't help, but I have mine in my pocket for like 12 hours every day while working. Common problem with that model if you look on the net. I think my current one has been going strong for a year and two months, so I'm kind of holding my breath waiting for it to start fu*king up. Now that I've acknowledged it, it's done for.

Your iPod might just be pregnant.
