Not ridiculously long but I want to be able to tie a ponytail :P I don't know why. I've have normal dude for 17 years, I just wanna do something different. Anyway, my hair is growing weird. The hair on the very sides covers my ears halfway atm, the hair at the front is growing really long, past my eye brows, but the hair on the top of my head is still pretty short, maybe as long as my index finger. It's uneven all over the place, so I try combing it back and holding it back with a hat, but then it ends up looking completely messed up, like some grimey bum. My friends are telling me i look stupid, and to just cut my hair. But i read everywhere never to give up if you have your sights set on long hair. LoL. Anyway...

The biggest problem right now is that I'm graduating high school soon, so I dont wanna look like a tool for the grad party so I might cut it. But I'm also thinking if I shut my eyes and get through one big night with my wonky hair, I can continue to grow it over the summer where I will only see my friends who know what I'm trying to do, so I can grow my hair in peace lol if you get what i mean. The worst is when girls start telling you your hair is weird..THAT'S discouraging ahaha.

What do you think i should do. Stop whining and cut it? Or stick to my guns and grow it. Any tips on growing my hair without looking like greesy old man?

Continue living your life as normal, only when approached by a barber seeking to cut your hair down to a shorter length, refuse the kind offer and continue on.

Just grow it. But make sure you trim the ends every few weeks. If you grow it without trimming it, you'll get split ends and which'll work their way up and you'll end up with a tangled frizzy mop. Use conditioner too.

when your growing it out a lot of the time (for me anyways lol) you go through a few weeks where it looks kinda funny, but when it gets longer it will look fine

guys with long hair = yuck. I think you should just cut it, youll look back on all your grad photos and be like "man i looked like a knob" and be reluctant to show your future children how awkwardly dumb you looked.

Edit: rofl, my post is my opinion (@ everyone who quoted me). I agree some people look better with long hair, but most just look like they're sloppy or homeless.

depends, girls that listen to metal, like guys with long hair.I remember when i had long hair ,random girls would come and talk to me all the time in concerts and im not good-looking or something, just average. Now that i've cut it short noone talks to me:P but that's better cause i don't like metal girls. If you want to do it,do it,it's just hair after all

I have longer hair, and for the most part, women seem to love me with long hair much more. I get so many compliments with long hair... As opposed with when I had short hair, no one ever cared otherwise.

But anyways, just don't cut your hair...

since no one has been giving you any real information: condition your hair every day, and make sure to eat healthy. hair grows an average of 0.5 inches a month.

everyone says that about anyone who has kept a certain hair length. long hair is less sudden, so people get used to eat more easily. while cutting it short can happen overnight and freak people out.

Agreed. Anyway, I'm not really a fan of men having ponytails. Just seems weird. Also, I'm not really best to give advice about it, given that I have an afro instead lol :P

Yes ... do this. If the style is getting to you. Go in and have it evened out. Small trim. Let them know you are growing it out. Don't give up!!!

About trimming regularly and split ends, I haven't had a haircut for about 9 months, i never noticed any split ends, but just in case, if I start getting it trimmed often once it's a length I like will that get rid of any problem that spilt ends may have caused? I want to wait until after going to a festival this season to get a trim, because I want it to be as long as possible by then, after that I'll get it trimmed sometimes because I'll already have a decent amount of length so it doesn't matter if it grows a little slower. PS, Behemoth ftw \m/

Get your hair cut like every 2 months. Just the ends cause otherwise your hair gets messed up.

Here's the perspective of a different girl--some guys look great with long hair, others don't. It just depends on the person. You can't say it looks terrible on all guys, though. As for how to keep up your long hair, if it's weird lengths right now go get it shaped up. Tell the person cutting your hair that you want to grow it out so they know what they are getting in to. Get the ends trimmed ever 3 months or so because the ends just get frazzled and it makes your hair look bad. Use good conditioner, too. This is coming from someone with long hair, so it's the advice I use for myself. ;)

I would cut it because I don't think long hair looks good on guys. But that's just my opinion. Do whatever you want to with your hair.

You just have to wait it out. It may look bad in-between short and long but you can get it trimmed a little to shape it up. But dont really cut it - just the ends. And by the way, your hair can only grow as fast and long as your genetics say. A maximum around 1/2 inch a month i think it is.
