Just wondering if anyone on here was going to join the protest against scientology.

www.xenu.net

http://partyvan.info.nyud.net/index.php/Project_Chanology/February_10%2C_2008

And for the people who don't know what Scientology.

Scientology is related to science as much as a mongoose is related to a goose (Which is wrong because they're both vertabrates)

Scientology is a religion started by science fiction write L. Ron Hubbard.

It forces people to pay 10s of thousands of dollars and destroy their own lives

And it destroys anyone who criticizes the religion too.

not sarcastic at all. i almost want to grab some popcorn, a lawn chair, a good vantage point, and then let the hilarity and pointlessness ensue.

Depends on which country you're in. The USA counts it as a religion, whereas Germany has outlawed it as a Dangerous Cult. Places like the UK haven't yet decided.

It's not a religion, it's a violent and abusive cult (at least according to the protesters).

Has anyone seen the report that was done by that one BBC reporter? (his name escapes me atm) They like stalked him and harassed him, it was insane. Believe whatever you want, but the leadership of a religion shouldn't be acting like that, so I have no problem with protesting Scientology.

Since I don't really know anything about scientology I decided to look it up on wikipedia. I got bored and started scrolling through it and found this

Scientology and psychiatry

The Church of Scientology is one of a number of groups involved in the anti-psychiatry movement, and one of the few organizations that publicly oppose the study and application of psychology in addition to psychiatry, claiming that psychiatry was responsible for World War I,[212] the rise of Hitler and Stalin,[213] the decline in education standards in the United States,[214] the wars in Bosnia and Kosovo,[215] and the September 11 attacks.[216] The Church's point of view on these issues is documented mainly by Church groups and magazines such as those published by the Citizens Commission on Human Rights and Freedom Magazine.

I just thought it was really really stupid.

Christianity doesn't force people to pay to find out about their religion. Christianity doesn't harass people who aren't part of Scientology. Christianity doesn't destroy someones life if they want to leave. No other 'religion' is like Scientology. Scientology is an evil corporation that destroys life. (I'm not a Christian btw, but I have respect for real religions)

John Sweeny. I felt sorry for the guy to be honest, even though he shouldn't have lost his temper like that, it seemed everything he did was met with threats from Tommy (the Scientology representitive who had arranged various things for him).

They should instead be comitting radical action against the FCC, of the core organizations impending freedoms in the USA and actually fines people boat loads of money based on this.

Agreed. There are much more pressing matters and organizations which they could have garnered support against.

I wish. But no, I'm too busy. I do however agree with it. Scientology is not a religeon. The only place that considers it one is USA and that's because you could get anything done there with a lot of money and some good lawyers. Scientology needs a serious slap to the face soon.

There's no suport to raise on genocide that us internet folks can bring. The people who support it won't stop until there's a bullet in their head.

I don't know a whole lot about Scientology(Due to the fact that they refuse to tell the public anything about it) but everything that has been made public from ex-church members is about as ridiculous as it gets. I still wouldn't protest em(You can call it a protest against the leaders of the cult, but the only people it's going to affect are the followers).

Arguing about someone's beliefs is stupid. That is why getting up in arms about racism pisses me off.:|
