I was going to go Pre-Order Skyrim yesterday so I went to go get my Safe where I keep my money.

I got my safe but while I went to go get my key I found that the key was gone

I searched around a bit but to no help I could not find it

I checked online to see how much a key replacement costs and it says it would cost about $15 (plus the weeks of waiting)

I don't want to resort to using something like a crowbar on the safe just incase I find the key one day

So here I am if anyone could tell me some tricks to open the lock that would be great/ or send me to some website with instructions that would be a big help as well

The first thing you need is a good wheel man. Once you get inside someone will set off the silent alarm, you need a predetermined escape route.

As adorable as they are I wouldn't trust a duck to be my getaway driver. They wouldn't be able to reach the pedals, or grip the wheel. Frankly it's a ridiculous suggestion.

Do you want your lock to remain functioning after you've opened it?

Alright, considering I hadn't noticed you posted what it is just break the thing open with brute force. It's plastic and incredibly cheap. I'm doubting you have the tools handy and making them is not worth the time involved for something like that. However, if you really want to, get your hands on steel bristle. Bind two pieces together, make a bend on one end, keep it short, under an inch.. File a small semi-circle cut into them. Then unbind them. In the rake, cut 2 extra notches into it. Insert into lock and get to work. Also, if you want it to last, make undercuts to distribute the stress. Insert the rake into the lock and use the other piece as a tensor and wiggle it around harshly. Viola.

Or you could just do it the easy way, with a bobby pin and a screw driver.

For a key based one you can bump the lock if you can get hold of a blank key. If it dosn't matter if the lock works after you could just use a screw driver and a hammer like people do on cars.

Why not? Depending upon financial position, people have safes for important documents, money, jewelry, or guns.

Picking a lock is one thing, but cracking a safe is a whole different ball game. Phony up the cash.

Depending on the safe move of them you can take a drill with a metal bit and drill out the key hole. Then use a saws all to break the latch and open up the safe. It ruins your safe, but it opens.

Looks like I responded to late. If you pried it open with a screw driver than my suggestion was overkill. Glad you got it open TC.

Pried it open?

I don't think there was much point in having that safe....

TNT tends to work, or C4. Or you can just pay 15$ for a new key.

Firstly what kind of safe is it? Secondly, get a safe with a number combination instead, requiring a key defeats the purpose of keeping valuables safe because then you can easily(as in this case) lose the safe. Contact the company from which you bought the safe and see if they can send you a spare key.

Crap...there goes the drop it from a second floor and film it for Youtube idea. ;)

Seriously that's why I just leave my firesafe unlocked. It's not like the flimsy lock is going to stop anyone. It's main purpose is to stop fire.

OT is beyond the dumbest place to ask for advice in such an experience. It smells of "this would be funny let me post it."

Try C4. If that doesn't work, then the nuke is obviously the answer.

blah blah blah

Find a bored welder, maybe he will open it up for free or a couple bucks? Or ask a thief maybe?
