Yeah, you picked my least favorite songs though aside from Seqouia Throne. Put in Heretics and Killers, Turn Soonest to the Sea, and Palms Read.

I like them, they're just ambitious enough to enjoy instead of the boring old As I Lay Dyings and Hawthorne Heights of the hardcore/new wave of post-punk world.

Should check out "The Human Abstract" as well. They're pretty similar to the style of PTH.

They're pretty solid, I guess. I'm not a big fan of their kind of music, but I appreciate they have talent and that they're from my general area.

Saw them live last year when they came to my college in London, Ontario (Fanshawe College)

Those vocals are absolute garbage, and the instrumentation doesn't do much to make up for them.

Extreme talent /= good music. (Brain Drill anyone? They're not bad, but for their boundless ability they are kind of underwhelming.)

Are you serious. Everyone in the band are excellent on they're instrument. Thats why they're in the genre of Mathcore.

Clapton is a good guitar player, but that doesn't mean I have to like the way he sounds.

Vocals also seem to be consistently **** in "mathcore" bands.

Kind of like Hella/Zach Hill's stuff. One of the best modern day drummers, but his math-y, chaotic sound really pushes me away.

Or Equilibrium, a folk/viking metal band that's amazing, but the untalented vocalist really kills everything good about their stuff.

Not saying I don't like Clapton, that's just an example. I suppose a better one would be this: not all people enjoy c1assical pianists or c1assical music in general, but it would be a blatant lie to say that Clementi, Mozart, Beethoven, etc. were not virtuosos of the instrument.

Eh, there's nothing wrong with the vocals. It's just a stylistic choice.

I guess it's just stylistic, but until I can run each song through an equalizer in attempt to kill the vocals, I don't think I'll return to their new album. It's a shame, because the rest of it is outstanding. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Mastodon.

It's funny that bands choose to use those vocals though considering Quorthon pretty much the pioneer of the genre used clean vocals.

Aye. Bathory was a kickin' band. I mean, while I really like so-called "clean" vocals, I don't MIND other vocal styles so long as they're not used all the time. I can only handle so much, and in spurts it can really add some flavor.

I definitely hear Everytime I Die and Dillinger Escape Plan influences in their songs....mixed in with a little Mars Volta.
