I find it funny that the people making fun of Fox seem to be getting there daily dose of news from The Daily Show.

Surprisingly, shows like The Daily Show have just as much 'substance' as what traditional news outlets like Fox have.
According to this article I found (No Joke: A Comparison of Substance in The Daily Show with Jon Stewardand Broadcast Network Television Coverage of the 2004 Presidential Election Campaign, by Fox et al), there was no signficant difference in the average amounts of video and audio substance per program.
The average time spent in a given 30 minute timeslot for the Presidential campaign was 135.40 seconds for Network News, whilst The Daily Showspent 233.16 seconds per story. The amount of 'video substance' was only 9.03% of broadcast time for Network news, and 8.89% for The Daily Show.
A concluding summary from that report was basically that The Daily Showhad humour where Network News had hype, and if you take those away you are left primarily with the same information.
