Im selling my 1990 300zx, because, lets be honest, its not practical. My first choice for a replacement car is a Civic. They are supposed to be reliable and I like the looks of them. All I can afford is a late 90's model though (specifically 1997). I was just wondering what your thoughts are on them. Most reviews are positive but I want a more first hand opinion.

Thanks

My ex had one from the late 90s, then sold it to use mine. I used to drive it quite a bit. Very reliable though - she had it for around 3 years and never and issue. Had around 100K on the clock. Wasn't too flash inside, but adequate. That's about as much as I can offer I'm afraid

I haven't owned one, but 90's Hondas tend to top lists of most stolen vehicles.

How rough is the condition of your 300ZX that all you can afford from its sale is a 90s Civic? :?

Not really that rough. Ive had it up for sale for a year and no one seems to want to buy it so Ive just been lowering the price. I could get a more expensive car cause the civic is only $3500, but I could use the extra cash.

I have a 99 Honda Civic. I've only had it for about a year but no major problems with it. Except the AC went out me.

I have one only issue is it's not an 8 cylinder and the(my) car is super low to the ground.

This pic is like a year old I painted it and redid the body work since this pic.

My friend drives one and it's really reliable. I'd rather drive the 300zx though 8)

Gotcha. To answer your question, I know someone with a sixth generation Civic... I'm pretty sure the only thing wrong with it is a disturbingly loud belt whine when the AC is turned on and the revs are high. If I were you, I'd try to find a seventh generation (2001+) Civic for a little bit more. It'll be nicer and probably serve you longer.

reviews are first hand opinions.

They could be bias though. It's like when I read an American Muscle Car magazine they'll hate on imports even if they're better like a Nissan GT-R.

They WERE very reliable cars...12-20 years ago. It doesn't matter what the car, that many years will take it's tole. If you can, go much newer. My brother had a 99 and it was extremely reliable for most of his ownership of it.

My mom has a 2001 Civic if that counts... :P

From what I understand, the engine is completely fine, but it sometimes gets some other minor problems.
